I think the judges are giving 10s too liberally. Ian's Elvis was not a ten. Neither was Laila's second dance. Joey was the best tonight. Especially his second. As Len would say..."That was great!"

Speaking of Len, funny to see his photos from the past. Would've loved to have seen video. He's really not a bad old codger after all.

We saw a quick clip of Len's moves on this show. He's still got it!

Will we see the same from Kari Ann and Bruno?

How about a full performance from the 3 judges.

I too saw several footwork mistakes. I still think they should go to a .5 system so they could give 10s only when it was truly great.

I only saw brief parts of the last half-hour, but I thought Apolo's Cha-Cha-Cha was every bit of deserving 10 as the other dances I saw. I just think Len doesn't like the kid!

I'm guessing that if they show the bottom two, it's Joey and Ian, and Ian goes home Tuesday.

(I'm just really hoping it's not Apolo - I think he and Julianne are the most fun to watch.)

I really like Ian's partner (I think he does too ;) ) so I hope he doesn't go home.

And yes, the judges are getting carried away with the 10s. But I think they're basically saying "everyone is good now, so we'll leave it up to the audience". It's their way of washing their hands of the decision.

Joey Fatone was great in the second dance.

Leila not so great this week. But I like her anyway :)

Cheryl has to go....she has won it too many times already and I was talking to my wife last night about if people vote for the 'star' or for the dancer? Apollos partner does some pretty amazing choreography and is darn good for her age (geez...now I sound like Randy Jackson)

The judging has gotten to the point that it is a complete joke. I said this a long time ago. There should rarely to never be 10's given. Do they even have paddles with less than 4's on them? What's the point?

Leila can do no wrong with these guys and it is silly. She does the same moves on nearly every dance. The other guys (even Ian) have upped their game....her's stays the same. Its just that same hip spin over and over. Nothing she did last night was worthy of more than 8's.

Apollo is getting screwed big time!!!

Apollo and Joey should be in the finals, but, they will give it to Leila and it is pretty pathetic to me.

That's a good question. I don't vote so I can't truely say. But if I did vote I think I'd factor that in.

Apoll's partner is hawt when she's in rehersal, but I don't care for her overly-made-up performance look. Just how old is she?

And here we are, disagreeing like the judges. ;)

I don't think Len dislikes Apolo at all (except for when he turns his feet in.)

Most of the time, I think his beef is with Julianne's choreography. Len wants to see 'proper dancing'. Julianne has done some fabulous stuff this season and really pushed the envelope, and some of the time, she has pushed it farther than Len is willing to go.

This is a natural consequence of pushing the envelope. The more your choreography is 'out there', the better it has to be for a more traditional / conservative judge to accept it.

Note the comment that Joey's Foxtrot had 'razz-a-ma-tazz' but it was blended in with the rest of the choreography, and the whole thing seemed coherent and still kept the character of the dance. That is what you have to do if you want to please Len: no matter what, portray the character of the dance. If you show him you 'get' the dance, you can push things pretty far.

You also have to put the blame on whoever is making the music choices for the show. The "Jessie's Girl" number from last week was a fun routine, but Len was right, in that the music was too frenetic and did not allow them to capture the character of the dance. It was the tango on speed.

I may say "Len's right, but so what?" because I disagree with his comments, but I can usually see where he is coming from, and if his comments are attended to, I think the results are better dancing.

Why not watch the performances on the DwtS website?

I forgot what I was going to say ...
[/Carrie Ann]

Joey's jive. That's the kind of performance I watch the show for. I think that after watching all those other 10s earlier in the night, it deserves something like a 15. The energy! Yowza!

I just can't get into the Laila love. And poor Ian.

My basic rule is simple. Which routine makes me say, "Wow, that was great -- I have to see it again!" Nothing Laila and Ian have done all season has passed this test. I love Cheryl and Max, but when Ian and Cheryl or Laila and Max are on the floor, my eye is drawn to the pros.

So -- it's between Joey and Apolo for me.

I have to admit....I thought Apollo's cha cha cha was pretty dang risque'....especially for prime time ;)

It seems the judges always give way high scores (and all the teams are within a point of each other) on the week before the finale just so that it is really the fans who determine who goes to the finals rather than the judges.

I think Julianne knows the vote difference between her team and the others is minuscule and she is going for the youth vote.

I also wonder if the winners on all these vote shows are set early on by the fan base who vote know matter how they perform. Granted the castoffs have fans but they may never have enough to make a difference. This is probably the big reason they will never tell you the votes unless its really close because it would give away the rest of the season.

The above sounds like a contradiction except when you consider that Julianne might have choreograph edgy early to establish the fan base early.

OT: Just read in InTouch Weekly that Cheryl is dating Joey Lawrence's brother, Matthew.

Sorry I didn't mention it sooner, but I just found out myself when I went on the site to vote.

I should have been voting online all along. :o

Better late than never. I can't believe that I forget about watching these online (I've watched several ABC shows this way in the past, just forgot about it). I've missed most of The Bachelor for the same reasons, lol. Oh well, at least I know now and can watch the best of the season. ;0)

Just noticed that my 2Do list shows the performance show being aired again tonight before the results show. Interesting...would be much better than trying to watch at the site, as I tried to do earlier. I couldn't get very far 'cuz it was so distracting with the buffering/pausing every couple of seconds...kinda takes away from the dances.

Joey Fatone got all my votes.

It should come down to Apolo and Joey. I just don't see where Ian and Laila have kicked up their performances all that much. Joey and Apolo on the other hand are really going for it big time. Tough choice between those two.

Julianne is some choreographer. If she's this good now, I wonder how good she'll 15 - 20 years from now. :)

I really hope Joey doesn't get voted off. I was so surprised when Ian wasn't in the bottom two last week and Joey was. I wonder if it's Cheryl's fan base that's doing the voting for Ian, or does he really have that big a fan base. I never heard of him before.

And here we are, disagreeing like the judges. ;)That's cool! Just please don't go all Bruno on me and slap me! :D

I just can't understand why Len would deduct 1 point for being overly risque (and he also mentioned he didn't see "enough" cha cha cha), when I don't think any of the other dances he scored perfect 10s were technically perfect.

murgatroyd

Yeah, a lot of the performances were over-scored last night. Except Joey's jive, which should have scored something like a 15. IMHO.

And yes, the judges are getting carried away with the 10s. But I think they're basically saying "everyone is good now, so we'll leave it up to the audience". It's their way of washing their hands of the decision.

And I think every score and comment by the judges is chosen to provoke voter reaction and enthusiasm. Apolo is probably way ahead, thus his total of 59 when he was as much (or more) a 60 as any of the others. 10's get voters charged up which results in more voting, and more voting increases commercial revenue which is of course the purpose of the show.

In the early days I chose Laila as a firm contender, but she and Maks just haven't developed the chemistry necessary to win this. Ditto Ian and Cheryl- he is solid but lacking. Joey has the capability to win by virtue of his personality and how he sells himself, plus the dancing just rocks- he is an Entertainer with a capital "E". But Apolo and Juliane are my definite picks to win because they are the total package- his dancing is just so crisp and tight and her choreography is stunning. What puts them firmly in the winners circle IMO is that intangible quality of chemistry- they simply radiate it when they dance and as a couple are cute as hell. It may be in part because of their age but they make ballroom look hip, fun, and happening- it is just a joy to watch them every time they take the floor.

All said I think this is the most entertaining season yet- more couples have what it takes and each star has put forth a huge effort. I can only imagine how this season amps up the expectations for next year. Any celebrity considering this now has some really big shoes to fill and has to realize the amout of work it takes to last through the first few weeks. I think they are seeing how serious a competition it is and less of them will take it on as a lark.

A great year- Apolo and Joey as the final two and Apolo takes it.

I have to admit that I was very dissapointed when the season first started but the latter part has been very good.

Agreed, I thought this season was going to be in the tank but it has redeemed itself.

Go Apollo and Julianne!

Little late, but watched the show last night before the results (about to watch that now, but wanted to comment first).

I just have to say that I was furious that Leila got 30/30 on her first dance. It was fun and original, but her kick at the end was horrible! I had to go back and watch it again, then again in slow-mo to try to understand why the judges didn't count off for it. Never did figure it out (maybe they all simultaneously blinked during that one moment?).

Ok, that's all...off to watch results now.

Laila has been overmarked, IMHO.

She's clearly the best of the women for this season, but that's not saying much.

Do all the DWTS third-place winners head to "Chicago"? First Lisa Rinna (who dragged Harry Hamlin with her), and now Joey!
