The writers seem to be trying to make up for the lack of action earlier in the season. Even if some of the action is cliche', I still like seeing things go boom and bad people get shot.

Season finale next week and if I wasn't already emotionally invested, I'd probably just ignore the show completely.
Yet again I watched 24 first, then Heroes just becasue I really, really can't stand the let down that happens if I watch 'em in reverse.... (if I watched Heroes first I'd probably not even bother watching 24 at all....)

(if I watched Heroes first I'd probably not even bother watching 24 at all....)Same here. It's just such a ho-hum show this year. It's so sad for me to see such a nicely written character driven show just tank it in such a short time. I think one of the problem's is that they keep having to introduce too many new people each year. They really should have held onto some of the main ones like Tony and Edgar. Man I loved Edgar!! He was a great character. They could've off'ed Chloe's sour-puss a loooooooooong time ago and I would've been all good with it.

Well, the episode was good but the season has been pretty weak, especially after last year.
Even for 24, they have had a ton of dropped plot lines and discontinuities. I pretty much agree that the writing from the hip approach with no clear storyline really bit them badly this year.

When they first began starting the season in January, I really thought it would give the show more of a one-day feel, but it certainly doesn't have that this season. The nuke going off and all the other events just seem so long ago now. There just doesn't seem to be a "nuke just went off 18 or 19 hours ago" mood on the show. I think there are actually too many twists and turns in the plot. I don't even recall them mentioning Wayne Palmer since he was whisked away on the gurney. At least the VP hasn't started setting up his administration already like the season they shot down Air Force One.

Hi ALL,
One of the things (of many) that really bothers me is that CTU is in the middle of a very active crisis and two things just had to happen IMMEDIATELY:
1. The Justice Dept insisting that Bill be fired.
2. An internal investigation on secutity failures.
While I can see both of these things happening, but RIGHT NOW while the crisis is still very active. JUST PLAIN SILLY!!!!

I fast-forwarded the scene with ...the British guy who was both previously married to and dating Chloe (name escapes me) giving Nadia a pep talk when the bureaucrats walked in to foul everything up at the last minute.
If this show gets another season, they better get an entirely new staff of writers before it goes into development. Find some way to get Jack out of Los Angeles.Hollywood may think that is the center of the civilized world but, really, it isn't.
<wishful thinking>I'd really like to see him have to go to a forgeign country (say the UK) and have to deal with MI-5 during a crisis. It would certainly shake thinks up a bit. </wishful thinking>

Well, at least the capital of the U.S. has been moved back to Washington, D.C. this season. Maybe the rest of the government agencies will re-locate there by next season.

Yeah, and they might have actually anticipated that the guy might catch on and she'd end up in danger and they might need to go in. But fortunately the door was unlocked when they did. I guess that's not totally implausible, but my door is usually locked between 3 AM and 4 AM, and I don't live in a major city.

I was hoping for the same thing. It would (hopefully) give the show a fresh face to have it be focused on a different location. The CTU set is getting tired. The only characters we need on the show next season are Chloe and Jack and it shouldn't be too hard to arrange a way for them to meet up in a different area. A foreign country would be cool, but just a different area of the US would be nice.

We need someplace where Chloe can shoot bad guys with a machine gun again! That was awesome. (seems like decades ago and yet I know it was only a few seasons)

The reason I suggested MI-5 is because the Brits do domestic intelligence so much different than we do. I'm taking my knowledge from the show MI-5 on BBC:America so I could completely wrong.
Say Chloe and Jack going to MI-5 to give a briefing on some-such-thing. While they are at MI-5 headquarters, some-such bad guys sitr the pot and the Brits, know what a results oriented guy Jack is, ask for assistance in dealing with it. Compeltely unrealistic, of course but this isn't James Bond. This is 24. If I thought about it long enough, I could probably come up with a feasible treatment.

Wow, I hope people who watch 24 outside the U.S. don't assume that it's a realistic portrayal of intelligence/counter-terrorism operations here. Well, maybe in some respects (like Jack) but stuff like chiefs of staff go out on sting operations, all the stuff they get wrong like the National Security Advisor being in the cabinet, stuff like that.

A future season could take place in a different location if they faked it. However, one of the producers has said that they would not be filming outside of Los Angeles because they didn't want to put the 100+ people who work on the show out of work.

I'm pretty sure they kicked the door in. The state of the lock didn't enter into it.
BTW, I'm surprised that Mr. Tough Guy "I'm going to nuke the middle east" Vice President didn't bother to express some dismay to the Russian Premier over the fact that he had Russian spies commiting espionage on US soil. That was a perfect opportunity for the VP to tell the Ruskie to get over himself.

Oh come on, Nadia and Morris talking on those terrorists was pretty interesting. They, of course, weren't Jack, but it was really entertaining. Then when the division guy shows up and talks about mistakes having been made, all I could think was, Nadia, put them in a conference room, lock them in, and gas them--please!
Lisa Miller grabbing that lamp and beating the heck out of Mark Bishop was pretty good too. Of course, he had to get the upper hand eventually, but she got in some good hits.
Someone said earlier that CTU has nothing but grates between their basement and the sewer system, boy that must smell down there. Well, we saw this week that it is very true. Nothing but a few grates. Their choice of location needed to have been better thought out.
"Jack, you're still under arrest!" "Come on..." "Okay, but Doyle is in charge." "Fine!" Snappy decisions by Nadia.
Buchanan missed all the best stuff this season.

Los Angeles is getting stale. Very stale. My guess is that, while this is nobel, it will only last as long as ratings permit it to last. Frankly, I'd be surprised if 24 is picked up at all next season. See my previous posts on the subject.

Ah, thanks, I read it and I agree, not exactly a spoiler. Shows often film in one place and dress it up to look like another.
I'm still trying to figure out what the deal is with Doyle. Early on, they were making him into a very suspicious character with the rumblings about his past in Denver. Now, he seems to be a great guy and everyone loves him, including the woman he tortured a few hours ago. Very odd...

The writers of this show definitely have a problem with multi-tasking. It is like they cannot deal with so many characters at once. Or maybe they are ADD and just can't stay focused on a particular storyline. Not sure WTH is the problem but they need to figure it out!! :(

What a freaky looking whackjob. I CANNOT understand how she is one of the 100 best looking people, beady eyes, severe overbite, funky nose, weird cheeks......
I have to admit she looked great from the neck down, even she couldn't get enough of looking at herself in the monitors. I told my wife that she seems to be this generation's Jennifer Tilly.

I just watched this episode. What a convoluted mess this show has become. Too many times you have to fill in the holes yourself. Like at the end when Doyle took the kid. So Doyle got a quick message to take him and not tell Jack. Shouldn't Jack be the one to coordinate a plan to get the circuit board and keep his nephew safe? Afterall, Jack is the do-all guy. Now, Jack has to do it himself.
Also, how did Division find out so quickly about the security breech? (Oh yeah, communications went down!) Where is Division headquartered that they could get there so quickly? Speaking of communications. it was Nadia that had to remind him that they couldn't get the flash email about them coming for a visit. Anyone think that the Division guys are bad? When will Bill Buchanan take charge again?
I watch the show when I get a chance. It isn't a high priority for me to watch right after it's TiVoed. Heroes gets watched almost immediately.

Even by 24 standards, the notion that Russia would go to war with the US because a renegade Russian general brought Russian nuclear technology into the US and gave it to terrorists who used it in a nuclear attack on the US, and then the Chinese stole the technology, is a bit...out there.
This whole season has turned into a parody of 24...which is going some, considering how out there 24 has always been. And it's not even a good parody. Let's hope the producers really have learned their lesson and get back to basics (basic screenwriting, e.g.) next year.

We used to make sure we saw this show on Monday nights. Now if we get to it before the weekend that's good enough. It just doesn't cut it anymore.
