Lots of stuff in this article, including the fact that there will be an 8 episode Heroes spinoff during it's hiatuses in which the public will choose which character stays on the show. I personally hate that idea-let the writers write and leave the public's voting to American Idol.

NEW YORK (AP) -- With "Heroes" its only new hit of the season, struggling NBC announced a fall schedule Monday that includes a spinoff and three other dramas also trading on supernatural themes.

I agree with you. The majority of Americans have horrendous taste as is evidenced by this article (Deal or No Deal being popular, and The Office not). Having them pick who stays and who goes on one of the best new shows is a really bad idea. I can see how this could easily kill the show.
And their other new shows sound really bad. Poor NBC. You coulda been a contenda.

To stretch the normal 22-episode season of "Heroes," which faltered after its long hiatus this year, NBC will add "Heroes: Origins." The spinoff will introduce a new character each week, and viewers will select which one stays for the following season. The two series will have 30 new episodes combined.
Bleh.
Since it found an audience this season with superpowered stars, NBC will remake "Bionic Woman" with Michelle Ryan in the title role.
As usual. Churn out the same formula 'til it runs out.
New series "Journeyman" is about a San Francisco newspaper reporter who travels through time to alter people's lives, and "Chuck" is a thriller about a computer geek who becomes a government agent after spy secrets are embedded in his brain.
Early Edition and Jake 2.0 anyone?

If they did it as a something like Star Wars: Clone Wars that would be pretty cool.
But this version of voting people on or off a show is a terrible idea.

Early Edition and Jake 2.0 anyone?
The first is more Quantum Leap or Tru Calling than Early Edition, but the second is definitely Jake 2.0.
Honestly, though, that hiatus was brutal. Thank God for the graphic novels, which partly satisfied the fix. Given the choice between a midseason hiatus and this gimmick I'll pick the gimmick.

It sounds like 8 self contained episodes, possibly with people with different powers and after airing, you vote for the character you would like.
Doesn't seem very American Idolish to me.

This doesn't look promising. So I take it this means Raines is gone?

I think the public should get to eliminate NBC entertainment vice presidents on a weekly show.

I'll try and give Journeyman a chance but its such a blatant ripoff on Quantum Leap. Now if he has a holographic friend I might bomb this show! :D

So then Journeyman is the bastard child of Quantum Leap and Early Edition?

"Medium" will return, but not until January, when they take over a Sunday time slot filled by football in the fall.
What do they have against this show? It did well in its original time slot, Monday 10/9. Then they take it off the air for a while, start it late in the season, and put it up against Lost. Now they move it to Sunday. Isn't Sunday considered a graveyard for network shows? Other than Simpsons, I only watch cable (Sopranos, etc) on Sunday.
Seeing as they have nothing on Monday, move it back.

I doubt they'll have enough turn-around time to have weekly voting influence an 8 episode run, scripted show.

AFAIK, the voting would be which of the 8 make it into the regular show.

Well, on Monday it was competing against the CSI:Miami Juggernaut. Maybe they thought they had a better chance against Lost and CSI:NY.
As for Sunday, at least they're waiting for football season to be over.
Medium is a show I seem to forget I like. I don't watch it for a few weeks because I can't get in the mood to watch it, then when I do I remember how much I like it and how good the writing really is. Rinse and repeat... ;)

The main character in "Early Edition" wasn't a "newspaper guy" -- he didn't work for the newspaper, he was just a subscriber who happened to get each issue a day early. :D

ah cmon - I want the super hero who can sorta not dance and sorta sing. His power is to grab everyone's attention and then simply vanish. They can call him soul old.

Have the bottom two face off in Mortal Kombat?See, now THIS is a great idea!! They each get a golf club for a weapon. No hitting above the shoulder!!
AFAIK, the voting would be which of the 8 make it into the regular show.THAT'S what I was talking about. THEN the writer's kill'em off one-by-one. We already know they die ahead of time. Thing is we don't know where or when. And, that some of them die in an accidental way at the hand's of one of the reg heroes. Others are snuffed out by reg heroes (not just Sylar) for other reasons. Regardless how they start pushing daisies it HAS to be death by heroe...

The lead actor in Journeyman is the guy who played Lucius Vorenus in ROME-and that's reason enough for me to watch. That and it's set here in SF. However it could be a "phony" SF like Monk is.

I hope they have a hero next year who is ambiguously gay, so that we can debate if he is or isn't, instead of more serious things like whether or not Hiro can move through air or see light when time is stopped. Or debate whether Sylar has the ability to command people like Eve, or if New York will blow up or not... :D

OT...
Sunday is hardly a network graveyard.
ABC has 3 hits there, CBS gets good numbers with their crime dramas. Fox has aired high profile things like X-Files there. Survivor airs it's finale on Sunday. Oh, and the Super Bowl and the traditional show after that.
Sunday is a big night for networks. People are home on Sunday nights getting ready for the work week.
Other than Sopranos, the networks have owned Sundays for years.
