Sweeps end 5/23 and with that so do many of our favorite shows. I went through Futon's Critic Summer Listing (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/guide.aspx) and looked to see what I will want to be tivoing. Note that I have one single tuner TIVO. The following is the list I have come up with:
Monday's
8 PM - On the Lot (FOX) Starts May 28
9 PM - Hell's Kitchen (FOX) Starts June 4
10 PM - The Simple Life (E!) Starts May 28
Tuesday
8 PM - On the Lot Results (FOX) Starts May 29
If I do not like On the Lot then America's Got Talent (NBC) Starts June 12
9 PM - House, repeats (FOX)
Wednesday
8 PM - Next Best Thing: Who is the Greatest Celebrity Impersonator (ABC) Starts May 30
9 PM - Who Want's to be a Superhero (Sci Fi) Starts July 25
Last Comic Standing (NBC) Starts June 13 - probably repeats on Bravo?
American Inventor (ABC) Starts June 6
Criminal Minds, repeats (CBS)
10 PM - Top Chef (Bravo) starts June 13
CSI: NY, repeats (CBS)
Thursday
8 PM - Pirate Master (CBS) Starts May 31
9 PM - CSI, repeats (CBS)
10 PM - Studio 60 (NBC) Restarts May 24
10:30 PM - Showbiz Show (Comedy) - will catch repeat
Friday
9 PM - Standoff (FOX) Restarts June 8
Saturday
Nothing
Sunday
8 PM - The Simpson's, repeats (FOX)
8:30 PM - American Dad, repeats (FOX)
9 PM - Family Guy, repeats (FOX)
As you can see Wednesday at 9 PM is going to be my conflict night, but I ranked them in preference that I would want to see them. What is everyone's list looking like? I feel like I may be missing something, but it seems like a good list.

Is Big Brother on? I probably wouldn't watch it if it was on any other time, but Ok for summer. Also how about So you Think you can Dance?

I haven't really looked too much yet, but Rescue Me will most certainly be on my list.

So You Think you Can Dance is Wed 8 PM on FOX, but not on my list of need to watch.
Big Brother is not on the list.
BTW the list I am using was updated May 8th, so who knows what things can change and when.

Summer has not much for scripted shows. I will also admit I am a Reality TV junkie as well.
Rescue Me Wed at 10 PM starting June 13 (FX of course)

This is what's on this summer:
The Closer
Rescue Me
Psych
Hell's Kitchen
Entourage
My Life on the D-List
Big Love
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (few episodes left)
Standoff
Weeds
Last Comic Standing
New shows:
Heartland
On The Lot
Traveler
Hidden Palms
And get caught up on the first 6 seasons of 24.
As I did with this last month; I watch about one or two episodes (of the many I record) and save the rest for down time. I'll probably get some movies out of the way and get some long bike rides in before I start watching any of it in late-June.

I watch a few reality shows including My Life on the D List and I will try the pirate show. On the Lot looks intriguing.
I generally don't bother with repeats unless I missed a particular episode during the regular season. (I missed a recent Numbers because the cable was out for example.) Closer, Psych, and Rescue Me are definately on my list.

It's a good thing I have a lot of UPN stuff (Smallville, Supernatural, etc) on the TiVo!
Since I don't tend to watch repeats or reality TV, it looks like the only regular network show I'll watch this summer will be the remaining episodes of Studio 60.

Pretty sure it was canned. I remember because I deleted the few episodes I had left on my TiVo awhile ago.

mwhip, when does that new Holly Hunter show start? I'd like to find a few new Summer shows.
I prefer scripted shows with professional actors rather than reality TV. Watched the preview of Traveler and really like it. It's supposed to start on May 30. Not sure if the pilot that already aired will re-air on 5/30. Regardless, Traveler is going to be a SP.

I liked Last Comic Standing. Well, Season 2 and 3 kinda sucked but Season 4 was great.
I am definitely going to watch Rescue Me, Last Comic Standing, Eureka, and The Biggest Loser. Maybe Who Wants To Be a Superhero if they repeat it later during the week.

Where did you come up with that Fox Sunday schedule? I have a feeling it's going to be more like:
7:00 - The War At Home repeat
7:30 - could be repeats of 'Til Death or one of the animated shows
8:00 - The Simpsons repeat
8:30 - King of the Hill repeat
9:00 - Family Guy repeat
9:30 - American Dad repeat
(although Fox's lineup is pre-empted on 5/27 for a NASCAR race and 6/3 for a movie)

I liked Treasure Hunters (except for the egregious Motorola product placement).
When is Big Love coming back? I'm excited for that one.
Also does anyone know anything about Pirate Master? In the teaser they showed during the Survivor finale it looked . . . just like Survivor. But I'm guessing there is something more to it.

Big Love - June 11. It will be on a t 9 PM on Mondays.
PIRATE MASTER will send 16 modern-day pirates on a high seas adventure where they will live as buccaneers and travel around the Caribbean island of Dominica in search of hidden treasure that will total $1 million. Over the course of 33 days, these pirates will live aboard a massive 179 foot, square-rigged barque which carries 12,500 square feet of sail. Each week, the pirates will embark on extraordinary expeditions where they will decipher clues along the way in search of missing treasure. Gold coins -- real money which the pirates may take with them beyond the show -- will be awarded after each expedition, but only to some. The gold will play a key role as pirates strike deals with each other or plead for long-term security. In addition to claiming the lion's share of the week's riches, one pirate will become the captain of the ship and will assign roles and chores to the remaining crew members, setting the tone for either law and order or betrayal and sabotage, which could lead to mutiny by the crew. Each episode will conclude on the ship at Pirate's Court, a lively gathering of public speaking and judgment where one individual will be eliminated and "cut adrift." In the end, one will be the first to find the largest booty, worth $500,000, and claim the title of "Pirate Master."

Good thing there is Unbox. You can order previous seasons of shows you maybe missed and catch up before the fall. They have the full past three seasons (including Fiji that just finished) for $19.99 I believe.

What is everyone's list looking like? I feel like I may be missing something, but it seems like a good list.
I'll give Traveler and Hidden Palms a look and watch the rest of the Studio 60 episodes. Other than that and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, it looks like I'll be doing what I usually do every summer - watching movies on DVD.
(I abhor "reality" shows and sadly that's all the networks air in the summer.)

I liked Nip/Tuck as a Summer series better, but it's now more of a Fall deal.
I wish Starved and Significant Others were still around.
I was sort of lukewarm on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia in Season One and completely missed Season Two. Between it and Starved, I wish the latter had come back, but...
Hey, I'm wildly off topic and rambling. :(

Did anyone see that mini-series a couple summers ago - "Into the West" on TNT? That was great - I wish they would do something like that again. I just really like the mini-series format - it's usually well done and long enough to get you interested and short enough to not lose your attention.

While not on the actual schedule, "The Singles Table" is on NBC's list of summer shows. I'm interested to see it only because I saw a pilot of it as a test-marketing thing in Vegas last May. It was absolutely awful, but I'm just curious if it will be any better, particularly since they added Alicia Silverstone. Given that it's a potential summer replacement, my guess is that at best it will just be a slightly smaller bag of suck, but still, I'd like to see it if only out of curiosity.

We're still back in April on our Now Playing List, plus we're looking forward to the burnoff episodes of Standoff starting next week. We'll probably get back to Buffy and Angel on DVD and hopefully finish those up this summer, as well as making some progress on our Netflix queue.
Also very much hoping that they don't skip any repeats of Veronica Mars and Smallville. Due to an antenna problem, we missed about 3 or 4 episodes of each, and didn't notice until it was way too late. We have the last two episodes of the season of each one, but missing the 3 or 4 previous.

Aren't they pretty much out of ideas for this? I haven't heard of any plans for more..Well, in general, I have rarely heard about plans for PBS series before they actually aired. The only reason I know that History Detectives is returning is because they actually have to interact with people to get their stories, and those people tend to be the kind of people who share information online. Otherwise, it would just pop-up on the program guide with no notice. And that was really my question: Short of watching the channel every day for its self-promos, and reading the TV guide listings every week, does PBS do anything to announce new series for each season?
Anyway, regarding Frontier House/Manor House/etc., I'd like to see them do more of them. Here in the US, I would like to see them do a series focused on the American Indians. I could actually see more than one of these (though, they'd probably not find support for more than one)... one could be aimed at the Southwestern cultures (they could call it "Pueblo"), and another could be aimed at the Iroquois (they could call it "Long House").

That would make a great series. I would also like to see one on the different aspects of the Great Depression here in America. My mother grew up on a rural farm during that era - they never really wanted for anything as they grew all their food. She had 9 brothers/sisters and has some truly great stories. They never knew they were poor (as children). On the other hand, people who lived in the cities seemed to really suffer. It would be interesting to see the different lifestyles.
