So I am still not liking the 24 hour only period to watch a rental and still do not want to own TV show episodes but.........

Recently missed a schedule conflict and did not get a recent Stargate Atlantis episode "Echoes" . Unbox had it so I could download it to my TiVo and watch it. Nice backup plan for my shows I like.

better yet
My daughter had her Thirteenth Birthday party this Saturday and she suckered Mom into letting a couple of friends do a sleep over that night. :) So they were talking about movies and how they liked the new Flicka movie that was out on DVD. I tell them I had it in my Netflix queue but not in the house yet. They really wanted to watch it and I really did not want to go checking video stores to see who might have it in that late in the day.
So I checked UNBOX and it was a rental in TiVo format. A click of the mouse and I told them that as soon as they settled in the bonus room for the sleep over it should be on the TiVo in there. This morning they told me they had watched it last night and thought the girl in it was dumb, etc.. Teenagers  My daughter was happy though that she and her friends could watch the movie they wanted to. Dad still rocks at least for one more day :)

They finally added Rocky Balboa as a rental in addition to a purchase. I downloaded it but haven't watched it yet. I really think the service will take off better in the winter when those of us who live with snow won't want to mess with it to see a movie.

I was listening to a TWIT (this week in tech) podcast on my ipod, and the hosts started talking about a movie I hadn't seen (nor really heard of). "idiocracy".
While still listening to the podcast, I went to amazon unboxed and selected the movie for download for watching that night.

(PS. The movie turned out to be not that good (imo)...although it does have occasionally quotable parts:)

The EXACT same thing happened to me. "Idiocracy" was the first Unbox movie I rented. The video quality on was very poor I thought. It's been better on some of the other movies I've rented (like "The Devil Wears Prada.").

The service shows so much potential. It's a perfect additional use of a Networked TiVo.

My Mom was visiting and I rented "Little Miss Sunshine" for us all to watch because the "sixth character", namely the VW Bus, was exacly the same as one we had when I was a kid! Same color and everything.

Unbox was perfect. I ordered it the day she arrived and we watched it a few days later when it was convenient for us all; no visitors, kids asleep early, etc.

well I am currently down to $1.08 and I have purchased anything but TV shows.

I would have purchased more but not every TV show is on TIVO such as Digging for the Truth... I really want to see that show.

I've downloaded the StarGate SG-1 Myth special becasue my TIVO missed it since it wasn't caleld StarGate SG-1. I've also download a lot of Veronica Mars Episodes because the idiots at the CW are always moving it, putting it on Hiatus or doing something else so I miss a few episodes and end up purchasing them at Amazon.com

I also wanted to see if Dead Like Me was any good and worth renting on DVD, answer is NO

Also I downloaded most 3 LBS episodes because they didn't air on TV.

I've downloaded the last two Supernaturals because the copy protection flag was on the broadcast version and it only saved on my TiVo for 90 mins.
