View Full Version : Desktop Plus 2.4 no connect

I just upgraded to Desktop Plus 2.4, and went from a perfectly working 2.3 to nothing. There was also a major service update in there. I have 2 TiVo's and they can see each other and share programs, but the Desktop software doesn't see any DVR's and the TiVo's can't see the PC that is sharing music and Pics. Any ideas what went wrong? I have restarted the TiVo's, and restarted the PC and the TiVo Server software.

This has happened to me before. I restarted all that you indicated that you have, then, on a whim, I "depowered" my both my router and switch, powered them back up and everything started working again (3 Tivo's hardwired). Hope it helps.

It's been about 18 months and I still cannot transfer anything from my Tivos via TTG. Whatever update (7.something) 18 months ago killed any transfers for me.
I'll try 2.4 and see what happens. Not going to hold my breath though...

Do you have any firewall software that might be blocking the new TiVo Desktop software? Every time I upgrade ZoneAlarm thinks the program has changed (it has) and I have to re-allow it.
Can you connect to the https interface on your TiVo through a browser? Try pointing your browser to https://{your TiVo IP} and login with the username of 'tivo' and your MAK as the password. You can use that as an alternative download method.

I recently installed a wireless router to my computer and cable modem. A couple of days ago, I added a TIVO wirless modem. It was so cool, I was able to access the PODcaster on my Tivo and TV. I took it to the next level and downloaded the TIVO Desktop (2.4.262.617) to share my programs and explore Tivo to Go. I have spent a couple of hours trying to get it to work (turning things off and on, connecting and unconnecting) all with no luck. Why isn't there a a detailed configuration explanation of what you need to do to set this up? Any suggestions are welcomed.
I get this message every time that I try to PIck recordings to transfer.
There was an error while attempting to retrieve data from the selected DVR.
TIVO Desktop is unable to contact the DVR. This could be due to network problems, or the DVR might not be set to allow transfers. To check the DVR setting , go to tivo online (I had to type it this way due to URL posting issues) then select “manage my account” and “DVR Preferences”

I uploaded photos (no problem), but have not been able to see them on the TV. Do you have to do that through Yahoo Pictures?
A how to guide would be wonderful.
