I've had my S3 for about a week now (since this past Saturday with cablecards installed) and it's already rebooted twice (upgrade to 8.1 not counted).

The first reboot happened when it was recording the Amazing Race. I only knew about the reboot when I went into the Now Playing list the next day and it had two partial recording.

The second reboot happened when I was playing around in the network settings. The S3 wasn't connecting to the network, so I was trying to fix it. All of a sudden, it just rebooted.

Any ideas? I tried searching for this, but it brought up a lot of hits, most seeming to talk about a "rebooting loop" or something. I don't think this is the case for me.

I also had an unexplained reboot during "The Amazing Race".

In the last couple of days I have also had several recordings have had large dropouts, (lasting over a minute & up to almost 4 minutes).
These happened during "24" & "Heroes" so it isn't the broadcasting network.
"The Amazing Race" was SD while the others were HD.
24 showed as being a 52 minute recording even though it made it to the end of the show.
I didn't notice on "Heroes" because it only happened once or twice, we were watching from the buffer, (not 'Now Playing'), and it seemed very brief, (a minute).

I have had the S3 since September, (or whenever it was introduced), and had no real problems like this until now. I will double record programs on our Cablevision supplied SA8300, (SARA software), to see if that gets effected. I am currently running 8.1 on the Tivo.

Anyone else suddenly experiencing similar problems?

I had the same thing happen last week during Lost. It coincided with the 8.3 update installation so I had chalked it up to that. It also rebooted in the same fashion (Lost) during the last update. I have not (to my knowledge) had any other spontaneous reboots and it is a recent phenomenon.

Already put this in a prior post but I also had a reboot during "The Amazing Race". The program is probably just a coincidence.

I had an odd reboot happen two nights ago, right between the two "Simpson" episodes while just watching Live Tv...

Should we be concerned about this? The occasional reboot is ok with me as long as it doesn't affect any recordings. However, it's just weird that I've had two already in less than a week.

TiVo is concerned too and is monitoring posts about these problems. They will be looking at my "diagnostic logging" (sounds painful!!!)

Is there a priority list to not get 8.3? ;)

I had my first case of a 'toxic' recording. I'm all analog. I was FF-ing through the Tonight Show to see if there was anything interesting to watch (after I saw the headlines bit), so I could stop the recording, nuke the partial recording, and start again to save disk space.. (Since I tend to save the recordings for a while to dump the musical performances off to my hard drive/DVD recorder.)

At some point, the Tivo rebooted. I *didn't* try to reproduce it, since I didn't want to miss any of Letterman which was recording at the same time. Luckily, I seem to have missed *none* of Letterman, except the little 'in the last big set of commercials' gag before the musical guest, since it rebooted very soon after starting the commercial break (on CBS.. I missed part of TS).

The S3 takes an AWFUL long time to reboot/"acquire channel information" and restart in progress recordings..

Yup, and I'm first on it!Did you unplug from mother? Is anyone else doing that too?

I have yet to get v8.3 and quite frankly I don't want to get it right away. It's not like they are giving us MRV or the external SATA port. I will be unplugging my TiVo network adapter tonight. This will buy me a few more days.

I hope they figure out what's happening soon.
