Was it "Planet Earth: The Future" ? If so, what is weird is that appears on the Planet Earth DVD set but not the Blu-Ray or HD-DVD versions.

Discovery HD usually lags regular Discovery by quite a bit. I was surprised to get the first 4 episodes as quickly as we did. More are coming to the HD channel eventually...

If this was the episode regarding that monstrous pile of dung in a cave, I would imagine they were burning through enough cameras as is, and they didn't want to trash any expensive HD cameras to get the job done. ;)

There's been 11 different episodes of Planet Earth on the Discovery HD channel already.

Actually there are only 11 episodes. ;)

From their website:

More than five years in the making, PLANET EARTH redefines blue-chip natural history filmmaking and continues the Discovery Channel mission to provide the highest quality programming in the world. The 11-part series will amaze viewers with never-before-seen animal behaviors, startling views of locations captured by cameras for the first time, and unprecedented high-definition production techniques. Award-winning actress and conservationist Sigourney Weaver is the series' narrator.

Sunday's 2 hour episode was "the making of". As I stated earlier it was not aired in HD, though you know the majority of the footage shown (if not all of it) was filmed in HD.

My S3 Season Pass recorded 11 episodes.

Now I wish I could move them to my PC so I can view them again at a later time w/o taking up 11 hours of HD recording space in my S3! I could probably even convert them to h.264 MP4 format and fit/store them all in one DVD!

I went ahead and ordered the Planet Earth blu-ray disc.
