View Full Version : TiVo suggestions recordings not appearing on OLED display?
It seems when my S3 is recording a show I have requested it to record it will read out the show name on its OLED display. I love this feature as I can walk by to see if it is recording everything it should from time to time. When it is recording suggestions it does not read these out and just displays the red light. I would love it if I could see what suggestions it is recording on the OLED display. Is this intentional or a known bug?

It's intentional, and there is currently no way to change that. I personally think it's a great way to visually discern between scheduled recording and suggestion, but I don't know how much demand there would be to add a feature to change OLED behavior.
I wouldn't mind a way to distinguish between a suggestion and scheduled recording, but I would like to see what is recording on the OLED even if it is a suggestion. The OLED display is one of the nicer features that really sets the TiVo Series 3 apart and I would like to see it fully taken advantage of. :D

I think TIVO should let the user choose how the OLED should work. An option on the settings could ask, Display suggested recordings on OLED (y/n). If an owner chooses yes, maybe they could start the name of the recording with a symbol that could let the owner know the recording is suggested.
An example... when the Playstation 3 came out, when you inserted a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray DVD you would have to select it from the menu and press play (unless the PS3 was off, in which case the disc would autoplay). Kind of annoying I thought. Apparently, enough people complained. A recent update from Sony added an option in the settings menu that allows the user to select the PS3 behavior when a disc is inserted. I prefer to have the disc autoplay. To me, allowing the user to choose the behavior is the best solution possible.
