After 16 months on a Comcast DVR, I'm home. Before that, I had been on DirecTivos for years.

Now wiht the $499 deal and 3 year service, I'm paying $10 a month more for a much better service. I can't wait! Comcast here in portland even told me they'd hand me 2 cable cards when I bring the old DVR in.

So what should I know? Will start reading all of the threads :) I heard about CableCard 2 coming, will that obsolite my TiVo?

Does any of the TiVo To Go stuff work yet on the S3?

No TTG or MRV on Series 3.

Be sure to follow the instructions for cable card to the letter. Get one card working before inserting a 2nd card.

I'm thinking about adding another Series 3 at $499.

I'm thinking about coming home too. I'd had DirecTivos for years then quit DTV. I've been on a TWC HD-DVR for nearly a year and I'm thinking about jumping on the $499 deal. CableCard 2?? Why are you scaring me?

A lot of people, including myself, have had difficulties with cablecard installations. Sometimes a card can be defective, errors can be made when passing card information to the cable provider, sometimes a card will fail to display some channels, etc. At the end, TimeWarner sent a tech with several cards and after a few hours he was able to get my S3 working fine.

After several months I have had no problems at all.

It can be done, its just that in some cases the installation is not smooth.
