I am trying to connect my tivo to my pc and I have read several posts and tried severl things, but to no avail. Here is the equipment I have:
1. Sony Series 2 single tuner tivo, 96% signal strength
Software Version 8.1-01-2-110
2. Tivo Wireless G network adapter
3. Belkin N1 wireless router, WPA Security and unique name for SSID.
4. Intel wireless wifi 4965AGN network adapter
5. Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop
6. Windows Vista Home Premium Edtion
I get the error DCHP client not found (NO2). I have tried manually entering the SSID (instead of picking the correct name that tivo finds) I have checked the router settings at 192.168.2.1 on the internet, I have typed and retyped the security pass phrase to make sure I have that right, I have even changed the pass phrase to a very simple one to make sure I can type it correctly into tivo, I have restarted the router more times than I like to, and even did a system restore to factory settings and I am about to pull my hair out now.
I have a wireless printer (802.11g) that connected the first time I tried and it was very easy. I also have an xbox 360 connected, again with no trouble at all.
Anyone out there have any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

What does it say under network settings? Is your TiVo Desktop software running? Have you tried to turn off your firewall to see if it will work?

Firewall turned off, Tivo Desktop was probably not running (don't remember for sure, as I ahve tried so many times) and under network setting it says " you are about to setup tivo to use your home wireless network, and something about the DVR will still use the phone line to connect to the tivo service.

Do you see a TiVo icon in the area where your clock is on the desktop? Point at it. What does it say without clicking on it?

Right click on it - go to tivo server properties - do you see the address for tivo server properties? Computer name?

I will try that again, but I have tried that more times than I want to remember. I have almost memorized all the tivo support web pages I have been there so often. lol.

You've got something wired wrong. That's your public IP and the only place you should see that is in your router's configuration page, not one of your computers.
Tracing route to ip70-177-65-39.ok.ok.cox.net [70.177.65.39]
All of your computers (and tivo) should be assigned IPs in the 192.168.2.x range since your router is set to 192.168.2.1. Check your wiring and make sure your equipment is connected properly. Without seeing how you're connected, I'm guessing that your cablemodem is plugged into one of the four switched ports rather than the WAN port on the router. If this is the case, the router would not be able to establish the connection when it starts up and it probably won't provide IPs to your network (via DHCP) until that connection is established. The computer you have connected to another one of those four switched ports is the first one to make a connection to the cablemodem, therefore, it gets assigned the public IP. Once it's been assigned, no other machines will be able to connect.
Coax goes from the wall to the cablemodem. Ethernet connection on the cablemodem goes to the yellow port on the back of your N1 router (the one right next to the reset button). Unplug the power from the cablemodem and the router. Plug the cablemodem in and let it establish its connection. Plug the router in and let it initialize. Now try again.
The router should now get its public IP from the cablemodem. Then it will provide IPs via DHCP to the rest of the computers on your network that are connected wirelessly or through the four switched ports. All machines on your network should be assigned 192.168.2.x addresses.
Of course, I'm assuming you have the cablemodem plugged into the wrong port on the router. I could be wrong.

This is probably not your problem, but the way you phrased this made me curious.
What do you mean by a "pass phrase"? For instance, my router uses a pass phrase to generate the 4 'pass keys'. If this is the sort of phrase you mean, that is probably the problem.
You want to be using the 1st key. It is either a 10 or 26 (depending on if you are using 64 bit or 128 bit security) hexidecimal code (numbers 1 - 9 and letters A - F).
I only suspect that this may be your problem, as I made this mistake myself setting up everything.

Just noticed that you said that you are using WPA and not WEP. I'm not sure if what I said above applies or not in that case.

Thanks everyone for the help. I have been out of town and haven't had a chance to mess with this again until this past Sunday. I managed to get tivo connected to my pc by manually entering an IP address in tivo. For what ever reason tivo was finding an IP address no where near the right one for my router. Tivo recognizes my network and connects to the tivo service. I am able to use Tivo Desktop 2.3a to transfer files to my laptop, but now I have new problem:
I cannot play back a recording on my laptop. I get no picture, but I do get the audio. It is like windows media player cannot de-scramble the video. Shouldn't Windows Vista recognize a tivo file extension?
Thanks again for everyone who tried to help.
