Audio Visual Jacks Usage

I want to connect my cable box to tivo using the audio visual input jacks instead of the coax cable jack. How do I adjust the settings on tivo to accomplish this? Basicly, I want to be able to change channels using my cable box instead of the channel line up in tivo. I want to manually schedule recordings, also.

I assume you mean the composite video connection?

Re-run guided setup and tell it you have a cable box this time around.

No. You'll need a phone or network connection to complete Guided Setup and also to utilize your Tivo after it's set up. Do you a phone or network connection available?

Some tivo's work without subscriptions, e.g. some of the Series one's, and those Humax/Pioneer/Toshiba's that had Tivo Basic.

I have had a Toshiba Series 2 for about 5 years. It's a dvd player, too. I bought this model because it said no subscription needed on the box. I used it everyday up until about 6 months ago. I moved out to the country and didn't get cable until last month. Anyway, I don't have a phone line, just a cable modem. Even if I could connect to tivo I know they don't have my cable lineup on their list. Bottom line is I'm going to get a broad band connector and ask tivo to add my cable system. I was hoping to find a way to use my box in the meantime. Thanks for all your replies. :)

How do you know?
I know because I stayed at a friends the first few weeks I was out here and used his phone to go through guided set up. I think our cable system isn't listed because it's new to the town I live in.
