Hi - I've been trying to resolve a problem with my two tivos not communicating with each other to no avail, hoping someone out there has the elusive clue.....
Problem:
Both boxes can connect to service and each recognize that the other box is there (messages/settings -> troubleshooting -> tranfers -> enter key, shows the tivo I'm on as well as the other box) telling me that the network communication is there. The problem is the other tivo on each box has the host name listed as "Unavailable". I'm assuming this is where the issue lies, but am at loss how to correct. Any ideas?

Total shot in the dark from someone who knows only bits and pieces about such things...

Are your TiVo's named on TiVo's servers?

Me too. Could it possibly have something to do with the Spring Service Update I just received?

No, I have not named the TiVo's on the TiVo servers. I'm not sure of how to do this, online central or somewhere else? Thanks

If you haven't named them, that's your problem. Go to "Manage My Account" at tivo.com.

My problem was resolved by a hard-reboot of the upgraded box. Only thing now is that channel changing is screwy (using serial) and there's a lot of pixelation... No one else is having these issues with the new service update?

You also have to enable transfers at tivo.com under manage my account. If you change the setting, you need to force a connection or two on the tivo to update the settings.
