I have a Sony SVR-2000 Series 1 Tivo with lifetime service that I am having trouble with the video. I am running this setup using a regular phone line.
I have no problems running through guided setup until a certain point. The tivo makes the first phone call to set the clock and other functions; then it makes the second call to download program data. About 15-20 minutes into the download I get the dreaded blue screen saying that the tivo cannot display live tv.
When I run through video setup I have tried every combination of S-Video, component cables and RF cable and nothing seems to get me a video signal.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any help or guidance is appreciated.
I have a feeling my main board needs replacing and I saw a place that will replace the main board for $159 which includes transfering the lifetime service.
Thanks!

I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you on how to fix your series 1. But I wonder why you would even bother when you can get a Series 2 for less money then it takes to repair you Series 1.
Granted that you would lose stored recordings.
Edit: I was thinking that maybe it's the lifetime service? I'm not familiar with that. You mean you cannot transfer your lifetime service on to an upgraded TiVo? If that's the case I'm certainly glad I wasn't around when lifetime was offered. :)

Why would you be glad about such a thing? I paid $249 in 2003. Three years later I sold the tivo. On average I paid less than $7 month for a single tivo's subscription. The OP could have bought the Tivo in 2001. At that time the rate was $199 for a lifetime subscription. That comes to about $2.75/month. How much do you pay? and are you really glad that you're paying that much more?

I'm having the exact same problem with a non-subscribed series one which I want to use as a plain DVR, have you figured out what is going on?
One moment it was working fine then it suddenly went to blue screen and said no input. Like you I have tried all video in combinations with no luck. Very annoying...
