Hi all,

I have had my humax for about 1 year now and overall have been pretty happy with it. The one thing they never told me though when purchasing it, was I would not be able to use the Tivo -to - Go feature. I was told I would have all access as a normal box by TIVO.

Anyway,

I am thinking about adding a second machine, either a series 2 machine or an HD series 3 machine. I am wondering if these units will be able to talk with my current Humax and share programs back and forth or if I will run into the same problem I currently have with the TIvo To Go Feature.

Any thoughts?

Which Humax model do you have??? I have a Humax DRT800, the 80 hour DVD burner/player integrated one, and at first when TivoToGo was first enabled, these Humax Series 2 machines did not have the ability to use this feature. About 3-6 months later they changed it and they were then also TivoToGo compatible.

The easiest way to see if your model is capable or not is by looking under the tivo machine specs (where it has model, tivo name (that you gave it), software version etc). It will have the TivoToGo spot, and all that work list a,a,a after it, while the Series 3 tivos that *do not* currently work with it - other than a few people that state their tivo shows the a,a,a, and it does work for them - show it listing i,i,i on the TivoToGo: line...

TivoToGo and Multi Room Viewing may show up in the future for Series 3 Tivos, but as for now, they are not capable of doing either (only the TivoCast downloads and Amazon Unbox stuff etc). I have no idea if you can upload (transfer) to the tivo from PC for the Series 3 yet, as to do this (for the series 2 boxes) you have to upgrade your Tivo Desktop Software to the Plus version (one time fee of $25), which I don't currently have.

I have that Humax Series 2 and a new Series 3 box, and I wish I could have them work together but maybe soon...

I know that there are many different Tivo applications by 3rd parties made to let you have more support for dealing with stuff and your Mac computer, or if you choose not to use the standard Tivo Desktop software, some of these may let you transfer stuff from PC to Tivo (series 3) but I think the only way to actually get it to do this is to try and hack the i,i,i to a,a,a (and I will not speak more of this as it is most likely bad to try it on your tivo and I'm sure against Tivo agreement). This method (of third party applications) will most likely let you do that stuff and other things with your series 2 boxes though.

I have the DRT800 and it does MRV just fine to my S2 - 240 unit and TTG to/from the PC. If you have network issues, you should get the TiVo wireless adapter.

As for the S3, that unit cannot do any TTG or MRV with anyother TiVo, even another S3 at this time. We all hope CableLabs will eventually bless the TiVo SW to do this.
