View Full Version : 30-day satisfaction guarantee?

I want to give an old 540 Series 2 to a friend so he can save a few bucks versus a new Tivo. This unit has not been used in nearly half a year. I don't know if he is going to go with pre-pay or a monthly commitment. My question is whether he will get a 30 day satisfaction guarantee during which time he can get a refund. I'd hate for him to pay and find out that something has happened to the unit during its "hibernation". Does anybody know how this works?

Thanks.

Go here (http://www.tivo.com/5.11.6.asp) and click on 30 day Money Back Guarantee link.

For some reason I was having problems seeing all of the pop up box explaining the 30 day return policy. Here is the link to it so you can open it in a full window, http://www.tivo.com/0.3.asp

Answer is yes he gets the 30 trial period.

Good Luck,

Doesn't "Only initial activations of TiVo service are eligible for this offer" mean only if the BOX has never been activated before?

bmgoodman,

You are in the TiVo Packages section of the document which is for new TiVos ordered from TiVo.com. The section for new service only is the section labeled TiVo Service.

If you do not see the TiVo Service Section use the link in my other post.

Good Luck,

To protect yourself and your friend, I suggest you call TiVo and explain the situation, ask to have a case opened with the answer and get the case number for any future dealings.

Any activation on a TiVo that did not have activation on the day you did the activation will get the 30 day money back..no problem. The TiVos history does not matter.

I want to give an old 540 Series 2 to a friend so he can save a few bucks versus a new Tivo........

You can get a refurbed Dual Tuner box from TiVo for $49.99 or a new one for $99. You should have your friend consider that. Have the dual tuners is great and the $49.99 price point is pretty good.

Thanks for that info. I have told him about that already, but the Tivo I'm giving him has a 160 GB HD already in it, so I'm thinking that's a plus. Actually, he was going to go with DirecTV, so I thought dual tuner would be useless to him. Now I think he's opting for Comcast, so he may want to reconsider the dual tuner option. Thanks again.
