How much money have you spent (NOT including the $15 promotion) on Amazon Unbox videos since its launch on Tivo?

$0. Although your poll doesn't have an appropriate option for me, as I know full well what Unbox is, and used the $15 promo.

$0 spent and I still have my $15 credit. Every time I have looked for a particular movie I want to see, it's either not available at all or it's only available for purchase, not rental. The most recent example of this was Young Guns. Amazon wants $10. Are they nuts? I Netflixed it and it arrived 2 days later. So far, I'm not real impressed with this marriage TiVo has with Amazon.

I love unbox, I just can't wait for more shows to be available!

Since I downloaded that UnBox app my wife and kids are in love with it. www.UnBoxOnDemand.com eliminated 99% of the false returns for what is available on TiVo. I don't go to the computer anymore when looking for a TiVo/Amazon movie to download.

We haven't spent more than $25.00 yet. I did catch the wife starting to order something for the kids that was on the regular cable channels and had to remind her that if she found something to "Look at the rest of the TiVo." Why order something from Amazon when it's also playing on HBO-HD?

$0,

I’m in the same boat as a couple of other people. I spent the $15 promotional and haven't gone back.
As with others I am waiting for HD content and better sound. I would not pay $14-15 for a DL when I can go to the store and purchase the DVD with better sound and also get the DVD extras etc.

It is intriguing that I can go get a missed episode of a TV show, but why? My Tivo does that for me already next time it airs.

Both of my cable cards acted up and another time my cable box lost power and turned itself off. I can not watch 24 unless I have seen the previous episodes - for me it was perfect to be able to get 24 again.

I would spend more if they offered anamorphic widescreen, DD 5.1, and about a 50% higher bit rate.

I have only purchased 1 movie title. I cant see myself paying $4 for a rental that I have 24 hours to watch from the time I hit "play". Sometimes it takes me (or the kids) 3 days to watch it. Rental from the store is still the best option for me.

I wouldn't pay their ridiculous rental price with their ridiculous terms if there weren't ways around it. I just rewatched a rental last night and It's been several weeks since I watched it the first time.

I haven't spent the $15.00 yet, but not for want of trying -- too many of the unbox titles are still PC-only, no tivo yet.

Though I know what it is, I haven't spent a pennie on it yet. It's going to have to something good for me to want to either. I prefer the DVDs, they have special features. For the same reason, I do not download movies from iTunes either.

He might have put it on a DVD. This is how I would try to do it. Simple, and direct.

I sure wish people wouldn't try and get all cute with polls. Think about it, allow some reasonable choices, and the results might be worth discussing. Otherwise we end up just talking about the poll options.

You know, gosh, according to this poll over half the people don't even know what Unbox is.

I used the promo for a movie, but my only purchases were for the last 6 episodes of The O.C., since we missed them due to conflicts.

I haven't spent a dime yet, but I use it every now and again. I got a special promotion a while back that resulted in me getting $60 in Unbox credit. I never used it until the TiVo thing came along, and now I'm down to less then $30. Eveyrhting I've spent has been on either TV shows ($2) or movie rentals ($3-$4), so that $60 has gone a long way.

I'm surprized how many still don't know what it is.Please, most all of us know what UnBox is! This pole only shows money spent out of pocket. Anything not spent out of pocket looks like you don't know what UnBox is.

Poor choice of polling options will get you bad results.

Yes, putting "What is unbox?" and $0 together was kinda of a joke. Of course you could know what it is and still not spend an extra buck on it. You guys are too sensitive!!

Best solution is to spend a $1 and then vote in the second category! ;)

Doug's unbox on demand app makes it easier but I'd be much more apt to spend more if there was an official way to buy from the tivo...

Nada. Zip. I have no interest in any type of PPV rental from anyone. In the 10+ years I had DirecTV I only ordered one PPV movie. Why pay $5 to watch a movie when you can get essentially unlimited rentals from Blockbuster Online for about $18 a month. This includes HD-DVD and Blu-Ray discs, BTW. I can get up to a dozen movies a week with my 3-at-a-time plan. I get a movie in the mail, make a backup copy for viewing later, return it to my local Blockbuster store, get a free rental with each DVD I return, wash, rinse, repeat, etc. I've got more movies than I'll ever have time to watch and I get all the new releases as soon as they come out. If I don't get them in the mail then my local store usually has a few copies on the shelf.

Now that AACS has been broken on HD-DVDs and BD discs I can rip the rented HD-DVDs to my hard drive and watch them on my HTPC. Of course, I erase everything once I've watched it. I have no desire to make bootleg copies of anything I rent and I just back up movies to DVD-RW discs or my hard drive for timeshifting purposes. I just don't have the room to keep all of the discs I copy, not to mention finding the time to watch them all.

I used to belong to NetFlix but the free rentals with in-store returns at Blockbuster has doubled the amount of discs I got from NetFlix. I also like the fact that my local BB store has all the release dates posted for upcoming movies as well as what has already been released. I used to have to surf the net to find out about new releases and I still never got all the ones I was interested in.

Easy peasy! Don't forget to hook up an audio cable so you get sound, too... ;)

I like unbox for a couple of reasons. First, as one poster mentioned, if you miss an episode of something, you can download for $1.99, which I did when my power was out for two days. Secondly, its a convenient alternative to movie rentals. I have rented a movie twice - I probably won't use this option frequently, because I do have the Blockbuster monthly service. Third, I buy movies for my kids who mostly watch them on long car trips. We are always losing, scratching, or otherwise mishandling the disks. With unbox, I simply transfer to my portable media player and plug it into the AV jack in my car. Voila, movies to go without the hassle of disks. If Amazon offered the option of an inexpensive download to go along with a DVD order, I would be all over that.

I'm also giving credit to Amazon Unbox for my learning how to hook up my laptop to my widescreen HD TV. Picture quality actually looks as good or better than DVD. Now, I'm trying to figure out a way to up my storage capacity for my laptop. Of course, I also discovered that streaming video quality on some network's websites is actually quite good - and free. You do have to deal with commercials that you can't bypass, but they are fairly minimal.

Now, if Amazon starts offering HD, they would be getting a lot more of my entertainment dollars. And, I might even spring for an HD Tivo.

I used up my $15 and then bought one more. I'll buy them from time to time. I like it.
