Ok, so can I say that the people behind the race are racist pigs for booting the Black women from the contest?
On the other hand, we've seen the issue of the loose ends (the phones) somewhat resolved. Once you're eliminated, you lose the phone back to the race minion.
I do love Tulley's car. One of my all time favorite autos. x 3

not specifically about the ep but interesting,
How many episodes are you doing this year?
Tim Minear; Thirteen is the order.

So even if only 6 air hopefully the other 7 will show up on dvd eventually

Loved the Tully / bank robbery / bro's bit.

Huh? They got there 12+ hours late.

Sorry I left off the semi-sarcastic smiley on the original comments.
But, regardless, it seems that the Black female team is no more. There may be one member left, and yes, they got there late, but they were most certainly eliminated fairly completely (even though part of the team is continuing on...)
After tonites events we have part of the Black female team left, though officially eliminated, and team Trans-am seems to be out of the race having tossed the race phone away.... (and facing charges of being AWOL if he returns, despite the fact that it was wife/girlfriend/significant other that actually set him up for that to happen).

I'm assuming that the surviving black woman hooks up with the AWOL guy. Maybe after he kills his wife. :D

It would be much more, uh, entertaining, if the wife killed the husband and then hooked up with her.

The plan always has been to run 6 thru April/May then it's going to take some time off and return in June, after sweeps, to finish it's run during the summer.
Hopefully.

Semi-sarcastic?? It should have been entirely sarcastic. The people behind the race had nothing to do with them not making their deadline. And in their defence, when they chose someone from that car to be killed, it was the white girl. If [Rose from 2 & A Half Men] had just killed her like they told her to do, then the 2 Katrina survivors would still be in the race. I think everything that happened after that were consequences of them not leaving the race as asked.
I think you are also jumping the gun a bit. I'm also guessing that the girl who is left does indeed win the race. They went a long way to set up the "God said YOU would win the race" to not have that pay off in the end.
On another note, Did the guard get shot? It looked like he did, but I didn't see any blood, and that seems to really change things. For rich boy to suddenly become murderer really takes some of the fun out of it. You know? I mean, we know it isn't fun for Tully, [Rose from 2 & A Half Men], and Corina because they have family members at stake (I know Corina's are already dead but still) but none of the racers had actually Killed someone yet. I think that would change things in a way I don't think I really like.

In the intro of the program, you don't see the woman that got killed at all... you see her partner in a car with the blond from the minivan and the woman in the minivan driving alone. So I thought maybe that's how it will end up.

Well, that's how it started out, so not necessarily...

The race liason didnt tell her to kill the white girl. He said, "If she is in that car when it gets to the checkpoint, then you will get the penalty." She just found a creative way to reach that goal.

[heavy sarcasm] Well NO he didn't SAY the word kill. [/]
But he did hand her a gun and say to eliminate her. I think if you were on trial for ordering a murder of someone and you argued "I didn't say murder them, I just handed them a gun and said "eliminate them", you'd still be found guilty..lol.

I've been waiting four episodes now for this show to get a little bit darker. They handled the elimination too lightly for that to have been the dark turn, though it at least gave us a clue that the race was life or death. Between shooting the guard and killing the God woman, we've now at least placed characters in real peril. The show so far had been pretty light compared to something like 24 or Prison Break and I knew it wasn't going to stay that way.
I'm enjoying it quite a lot. It will be interesting to see if the race directors get military man discharged so he can stay in the race, since he is in the credits after all.

...I think that would change things in a way I don't think I really like.Actually, I LIKE the darker side mixed with the lighter. It balances the show quite nicely...I actually felt like we'd been thrown a nice curveball when the guard was apparently shot. Then one of the women in the red car died...nice touches of "reality".

Pretty weak. Looks like it lost about a million viewers.

I feel like the real race is whether we can get some sort of resolution on this series before it's cancelled. :(

Two nitpicks: I'm pretty sure it was at least implied that the"guard" was actually working for the race, so it wasn't like they killed an innocent. I also felt that making the white girl her partner instead of killing her was exactly what those running the race intended to happen. They just didn't spell it out.
Still not sure what I think of this show. Like The Inside (Tim's last series) there are a lot of good things about Drive but my overall impression is its kind of a mess. And the cliches keep piling up too. The "voice of god" is the most obvious one, and we clearly are expected to believe the surviving woman will stay in the race and eventually win. And of course she won't, being their idea of a "twist". Tim doesn't seem to get that taking a cliche and then doing the opposite of how it usually turns out has also become a cliche. Thats my main problem with the show I guess: There is hardly anything original about any of it, and the characters seem kinda cookie cutter stereotypes. Even Tully is someone we've seen many times before and Nathan definately deserves more to work with. It does show just how good he is though, because he somehow manages to keep Tully interesting.

I am not a car person but I find this one fun and I am actually enjoying it more than 24 this season. I hope they do the entire race and have an ending to it.
Would it be premature to say "Burn in Hell Fox"?

Apparently fox came in 4th in the ratings on Monday night. I don't understand the #'s but it doesn't look good. So yes, I think fox has seceded in getting me hooked on another show & canceling(most likely) it before it can hit it's stride.
I missed the ending. My recording was up to when Tully & Co. arrived at the motel after the robbery. What happened afterwards?

God woman said (approximately) "but we know where to go" BEFORE they found the phone.
What did she mean?
Plus, can you get the phone to replay the clue? I guess they showed that.
This show has some of the most awesome transitions between cars/scenes/etc.

Get out. You two get a room, pay cash, and don't open that [the SDB] until we get back. Get back from where, man? Your brother's last chance. Then previews.

Ditto. I don't think the guard is working for the race. He's just a rent-a-cop who stumbled on a situation he wanted to try and take advantage of, since he's a less than moral guy. Doesn't mean he has anything to do with the race.

Wouldn't it be cool at the end of the race to see all the people who had been harmed, shot, used as extras...at the finish line? Kind of like the Sienfeld finale.

I think they should of made this a summer series. Or started it early next season, like they did with Prison Break. Not to many mid-season shows make it. Donnellys-Wedding bells, come to mind

I think all the extras that have been playing roles for the people behind the race along the way are former racers themselves.
Maybe the rent-a-cop was unhappy about having lost out on the $32 million?
Why $32 million BTW? Such a random number.

I got that impression when he said something like "There are a lot of different ways this could end." and then he said "I'm not a cop." I got the feeling that it was like the fake highway patrolman that was questioning Tully in the previous episode.

I don't consider the fact that the brother shot the guard to be murder. He'd probably be tried for felony murder since the shooting happened during a robbery, but from his point of view, he'd just been shot by the guard, and was defending himself. I don't think that makes him such a bad guy.

After he said that first part, didn't he then leer at the girl? I took that to mean that he might be willing to let them go in exchange for a sexual favor. And he said he was not a copy because he was clearly just security for the shopping center area. I think his car was marked "security" and not "police" or "sheriff". At least that was my impression.

Legally, defense of others falls under self-defense.

So I've heard conflicting reports. Did they actually shoot all 13 eps, or did they only shoot 6 but scripted the series to last 13? If the former, I definitely want them to air the rest. However, if it's the latter, and we're never going to see the final 7 eps because they've never been filmed, then I don't really care about the next two eps either.
