Well, the results are in!
I changed my "old" Linksys WUSB11 ver 2.6 802.11b wireless adapetr for the Tivo 802.11g adapter. This was easy enough just unplugged the old, plugged in the new and my Toshiba SD H400 type 2 Tivobox recognized the new adapter instantly. Just about the same signal level as the old adapter.... but transfer rates from the Tivo to my PC over the wireless network have gone up by almost 2 1/2 times.
I was somewhat reluctant to change as I had read that there would only be a difference transferring from one Tivo to another but it looks as though the Tivo adapter takes some work-load off the Tivo CPU.
Hope this encourages others to try the same.
