....silly me, I thought Veronica Mars was gone for good. Now I see she's back for four episodes on 5/1.

Hopefully, the Save our Show votes will allow her to continue next season.

Only four episodes left? I thought there were five. :(

ETA: According to tv.com, there are five episodes left (http://www.tv.com/veronica-mars/show/24272/episode_guide.html?season=3), but the final two will air back-to-back on the same night. (Warning: episode titles.)

They just want to finish the eps that are already in the can. I'd like VM to come back in a different type of show as has been mentioned around here for some time. Ms. Bell can only play a college student for so long, she's 26 or 27 in real life.

Time for me to remember to bit torrent the remaining shows.:)
No CW in HD here.

According to TV.com there are 5 hours left, but the last two episodes are on 5/22.

This was not a smeek, just slow typing. :)

Crap! I had scheduled something else for that time slot and the Tivo said it would record over VM. I told it to go ahead and do it, since I thought they were all repeats now. I gotta fix that mess when I get home.

A bit of an aside:

I'm puzzled at the reaction that Veronica Mars has gotten this year, both from critics and from viewers in forums like this. I think it's fair to say that both groups agree that the show hasn't been this season what it was in the first two (and especially the first), but I don't think that means the show hasn't been, on balance, quite good -- it has simply been more up-and-down than we've been accustomed to. (Or for me, more down-then-up: I thought the rapist arc was fairly flat [although it had a good ending], but the O'Dell arc was quite compelling, with at least three of those episodes among the best the show has done.)

Anyway, while the show does have its fans among us, a surprising number of people seem happy to see it canceled, as though it is making a mockery of itself or something. There have been any number of "it's time to go" posts in episode threads here, and this morning in USA Today, critic Robert Bianco wrote (http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2007-04-23-may-sweeps_N.htm): "Goodbyes can be tough even when the time is right for parting. Like the two-hour finale of Veronica Mars, a great show that has sadly run its short course."

Leaving aside the undeniable fact that the show's ratings don't exactly demand another season, I just don't understand write-offs like that. Why can't the show be great again (or continue to be, even if it has to evolve somewhat)? Its creative success clearly wasn't a fluke. Compare VM to 24, a show that by all accounts is having a real failure of a year, particularly by its own standards, but the attitude about it seems to be "let's hope for better next year" than "time to shut it down".

VM has earned my loyalty, and the show will continue to have it for as long as it is around and aiming high, even if it misses more than it used to.

At the end of last episode there were clear indications that the season would resume on May 1st. I've kind of had a count-down going in my head waiting for it to come back. I had no idea you guys thought it was over. If I had known that I would have posted my mental count-down here :p

CW really needs to realize that a lot of the country couldn't see thier signal when they first launched.
They were buried in a subchannel of another networks HD channel in some of the country, and a whole lot of folks didn't have Digital TV Capability, and most still don't.

Most Cable companies, DishNetwork and DirecTV didn't carry the channel again due to it being hidding in digital TV, or too small of a viewing audience to be cost effective.
Except for the lucky few that ended up on a channel they were already carrying, myself included in that lucky few.

I'd say, considering, VM got pretty darn good ratings.

I hear you . . . but even when compared to other CW shows, VM had disappointing ratings this season.

The main comparison was to its lead-in, Gilmore Girls, but VM almost always had much lower numbers than GG. If VM had been able to retain 80-90% of the GG viewers, it might have lasted another year. But it didn't.

I'm happy that I FINALLY get to see at least a few episodes in HD. Due to some changing / adding channels on Comcast cable in Atlanta, I seem to have miraculously acquired the ability to watch CW shows in high def. Too bad Veronica Mars is the only show I would even consider watching.

Now, when we get FX Network in HD, all will be well with the world of TV. It's a crying shame no one can watch The Shield and Rescue Me in HD.

I refuse to watch SD CW from DirecTV. I'll continue to use bit torrents for CW shows. At least I can watch them in WS, if I burn to DVD. If I watch on my PC WS monitor, it's almost HD.

And of course, Time Warner and Sinclair, despite having an agreement signed in JANUARY to carry the local CW affiliate in digital (HD), have yet to add the channel, and there appears to be no effort to do so anytime soon. Grr.

I've never really given much thought to anything he has to say, especially when it comes to stuff on The CW. He writes what, a couple paragraphs a day? And he doesn't even do the weekly Q&A anymore.

Michael Ausiello, on the other hand...

FYI, he actually started the chats again earlier this year (or rather, USA Today let him start them again). Bianco's role is a bit different than Ausiello's, to be fair. The former is a critic, the latter buddies up to actors and promotes the heck of their shows (although, for the record, I do have regard for his opinion).

Incidentally, Ausiello commented, I believe on the TV Talk podcast, that he has seen the first two VM standalone eps and loved them. He said they were so good that not only did he not think about there being no overarching mystery, he was glad there wasn't one.
