So far this half of the season hasnt drawn me in at all the way the show used to.
There is no contract stuff going on, no movies or anything to focus on, no interesting situations really. They are just idling along.

That's true to a large extent, but again, in answer to Amanda's question: hellz yes!

I hate to quote Billy Madison of all movies, but it seems appropriate.
"Sooooo hot -- want to touch the hiney!"
I don't really think they should have started off the episode with Carla Gugino dressed like that. I have no memory of what happened after that first scene.
Time to re-watch! :)
PS: When I see a woman like this, it reminds me why I hate hate hate all those skinny, bony little models. Women are supposed to look like, well, Carla Gugino!

Since it looks like most of you are still drooling over Carla, I wanted to say that Nora Dunn is [Freddy Prinze]LOOKIN' GOOOD![/Freddy Prinze]
I'd still bang Carla Gugino's character, though. :D

You read my mind, jgerry. The episode turned into a scene from a silent movie the very minute Carl Gugino entered the kitchen.

Loved it. Loved Ari coming back into the office and firing the other agent in true Ari fashion. Awesome.
"And in case your ear's are f*cked, get the f*ck out!" :D

20 minutes long? What a ripoff!
If it was only going to be twenty minutes long Carla Gugino's opening scene could have been at least 19 of it!

I thought that too. When I saw credits I thought wtf? Checked the tivo bar and it said 24 minutes. Minus the 2 min recap intro and other HBO buffer on the front and at best it was 22 minutes.
It was a solid 22 minutes don't get me wrong but seriously?

Yeah, it was waaaaay too short. My brother and I were like, WTF? It's over already?
How long is the 30-minute sitcom format now in terms of actual programming? Isn't it about 22 minutes? I know this show isn't really a sitcom, but the 30 minute format has been steadily shrinking over the last 15 years. More room for ads! I don't understand why HBO has to kowtow to this though.
Ari was awesome in this episode, short though it was. "Wife #1, therapist #7". Gotta love Ari!
I still can't remember what else happened during this episode... Oh yeah, looks like Vince gets to bang his hot agent! Certainly nothing bad will come of this.

definitely too short.
The golf course comments had me on the floor.
Ari staring at the screen saver, classic.

Network shows are approx. 23 mins of content per 30. Syndication usually around 22 min. Producers of Entourage have obviously formatted that show with an eye to syndication down the road ala Sex and the City.

Probably also why Ellin made the comment of not wanting to include nudity in the show.

I also saw this episode (which was great!) as a setup for Ari to get the boys back. They made it clear that the honest answers, feedback and give & take that are needed between an actor & his agent aren't possible when the agent is "cute". Vince & E will never be able to be brutally honest with her.
Regardless of her suggestion that she & Vince sleep with each other and get that out of the way, I felt this was the intro of the "slide back to Ari" movement. And as nice as the eye candy is, I want the boys back with Ari. It's a good match, and they know it.
Mrs. Ari is a saint. :)

. . . aaaand he's back!! Finally. I don't want to see Mr. Sensitive Ari, I want Mr. Badass Take-no-prisoners Ari.
And Carla Gugino is gorgeous. Even though she's got quite a few years on all of 'em (except maybe Drama), I like that the guys are drooling over her as much as they do any hot young thing.

I really like the scene where they were getting yelled at...it really reminded me of them being in the principles office.

This show ended at just the right spot. It might have felt short but creatively it was ended just where it should have been.
I like how Ari feels regret because he DIDN'T pimp his assistant out to will sasso.

She's only 36, so she doesn't have that many years on them.

It's pretty easy to edit out the nudity and/or reshoot. I think it was more of a creative choice. Sorta like the Hitchcock/Jaws approach: It's more dramatic if you DON'T see it.
Who were the other SNL alums on the golf course?

I know the actress is not that old, but the character is clearly supposed to be several years older than Vince (who's supposed to be what? 28?)
Most of the girls he's paired with tend to be of the under-25 variety, so it's nice to see them all panting after Carla. In TV land, especially the male fantasyland that is Entourage, she's considered an "older" woman.

I thought the birthday party was for Vince's 30th birthday. The first ep of the season was called "Less Than 30".
In the first season, they were talking about going to their 10 year high school reunion, which would put them (except Drama, of course) at about 28 years old. The timeline is about right I think.

You didn't notice Lorraine Newman saying she wanted to suck Ari?!?!?

Don't know who Lorraine Newman is. That seems like par for the course (pardon the pun) though, SNL men go on to fame while the SNL women get zippo.

You're right. She's not 36 - she's only 35 2/3. Born 29 August 1971.

It's not a situational comedy? Then what is it?

I don't remember him saying that. I remember him saying that he didn't want to show sex. There's been plenty of times where they've shown nudity leading up to sex (and in the case of Vince's Brooklyn buddy, actual sex. And that was this season!)

Drama's super-skinny jeans were just enough over the edge to be hilarious!

I consider it a Comedy-Drama. I consider sitcoms to be lighter. Once you start to add more emotion into it (Sports Night), I think it becomes a comedy-drama.
I could see the argument for calling it a Sitcom, though.

I wish they would make some headway with this Medellin thing......If Ari knows something, why hasn't he made a move for Vince? We need some resolution on this this coming week!
20-22 minutes is a rip!
