screen frozen in 'clear to do list'

how can i get my directv tivo to unfreeze?

i sellected the clear to do list and it has been a few hours since.

the screen still says "this may take an hour"

i have already tried to unplug the receiver to reset it, but that didn't work. it went right back to the screen after powering up.

i have a hughes directv tivo sd-dvr40
