Noobie question - software on drive

When I go to upgrade my TCD540080 to a 250gb model I am following the directions on tivo.upgrade-instructions-com, If everything went exactly as they say, when I put the drive back in to the tivo will it be like I bought a new tivo? I see a lot of talk about different software and things the Tivo can do and am wondering if I should install a separate software (image). I am looking around but don't see a beginner guide for this type fo stuff

If you upgrade from your original drive to a new larger HD then it will be exactly the same as before. Nothing will change, depending on if you keep recordings or not.
