Please help - I am [gasp] unsubscribing to Directv, because I do not watch it that much anymore. However, I have installed a nice antenna for off-air. How can I setup my Directivo to look for these local channels?
Setup takes me immediately to loooking for the satellite, which of course, it cannot find.
Is my only recourse to trade out this DVR for one less connected to DirectV?
If I have to go that way, then I think I will be looking at one with an HD receiver built in.
Please advise.
Thanks!

Thanks! An SD Directv DVR only receives and records the Directv signal. It does not have the hardware to do anything else, so there is no practical way to even hack it to do so.

As far as I know (could be wrong) the HR10-250 HD DTivo box, that will record OTA HD signals, will only do so if the box is connected to DirecTv and activated
Any DirecTv box simply must be connected and active to work
You may continue to play recorded content... but nothing new
You need to buy a standalone Tivo, with a tuner, to do what you want

I want the OP to hook it up to an OTA antenna and report back his findings. :)
