I am sure that some will roll their eyes at this thread, but all the current daily update problem threads are in tivo uk. Since I am not in the UK, I have elected to start one here.
I have an old sony tivo with 3.xx software with the turbonet ethernet card and a lifetime subscription. I have upgraded the hard drive, installed the 1.92 version of tivoweb, can telnet into the box no problem. I got the ethernet card when the modem was fried somehow. I don't remember when the modem died, but the ethernet card has been working well for years.
When the updates "suddenly stopped working," I researched all the information I could find about the problem.
Resolution recommendations center primarily around insuring the tivo has a correct ip address, subnet mask and default gateway. I have no problem there. The hypertext transport protocol (cannot use abbreviation b/c I am a newbie) get command will get files from the internet no problem. Connectivity is not an issue.
I came across another thread which recommended moving all the old log files and letting them recreate. I made a logold directory, moved all the files to that directory. What happened after completing that task is that I could now successfully make test calls. It also downloaded updated phone numbers and configured the system with the phone number, but since I have the ethernet ,#401 hack, this is academic. I point it out to say what the tivo system will do and not do.
Test calls still succeed. I cannot successfully make a daily call. It stays at connecting for a long, then shows "Failed. Service unavailable." In the svc log, the lines that show up for a failed call are-
ird_id TCD_ID=01000001130A4D5 CALL_ID=1177118225 TIME=1177118265 ID=5330A4D5
tcd_driveid TCD_ID=01000001130A4D5 CALL_ID=1177118225 TIME=1177118265 HDA=WD-WMA8C1123400 HDB=Unknown
tclient_hangup TCD_ID=01000001130A4D5 CALL_ID=1177118225 TIME=1177118576 CODE=65535
tclient_result TCD_ID=01000001130A4D5 CALL_ID=1177118225 TIME=1177118577 STATUS=Failed CODE=14
I would welcome any insight and willingly take any well deserved lumps if I missed anything in my research, esp if leads to a solution.
thanks,
ric
