just got HDTV, will DTV want my old SD DirecTivos back?

I finally took the plunge and bought a plasma HDTV at Sams Club today(50" units, $3200)

Right now I only have it hooked up to my anteana watching local high def programming but I obviously want to upgrad my direcTV service to the HD service.

Will DirecTV want my old standard-defini direcTiVO's back if I upgrade to high-defi
directIvos do they still haave high defin direcTivos(I read that its nearly not possible
to get one... so should i get it from Amazon or Ebay?

What would Directv do with the old Directv/Tivo units? Trash them is about all :D

If the equipment you have now is leased, not owned, DTV would very likely want the equipment back

DTV's new HD DVR is, as you surmise, not a DTivo... it is DTV's own HR20 brand, with a different forum http://www.dbstalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=82

You may be able to find an HR10-250, on eBay or from a forum sponsor... which also has a different forum http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=36

If you do buy a used unit, get the receiver ID ahead of time, so you may call DTV to verify there is not an outstanding bill... in which case DTV will NOT let you activate the machine

I remember reading that too ...something like "I leave my laptop lying around and friends use it, log on and ask questions..." but I don't buy that at all.
