I am looking at getting the Sex & The City series on DVD. Amazon lists The Complete Series (Collector's Giftset) (http://www.amazon.com/Sex-City-Complete-Collectors-Giftset/dp/B000ASDFJU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-6632296-5376939?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1177080543&sr=8-1) at $165 but the regular Complete Series (Seasons 1-6) (http://www.amazon.com/Sex-City-Complete-Seasons-1-6/dp/B000646MNE/ref=pd_bbs_sr_10/102-6632296-5376939?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1177080543&sr=8-10) lists for $251.

Why would the Collector's Edition be almost $100 less than the regular series? What am I missing? I don't need the CE, but will get it for the lower price.

I noticed that too. I'd bought the complete collection for Handan for Christmas but first price-shopped.

Get the complete gift set. It has great packaging.

I don't know what kind of packaging the gift set has but it *has* to be better than the individual sets. Those are terrible. I bought them all for my wife and they all fell apart within a couple of months. We've moved all the discs into generic cases.

I don't care about the packaging, as I throw all that crap away and put them in sleeves. :)

HBO has OUTRAGEOUS prices for their individual season sets. Sometimes it's NOT EVEN A WHOLE SEASON!

I actually have both, and the complete set case would be worth the price difference even if the prices were switched. MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the crappy flimsy cases the seasons were put in.

EDIT: You'll want to keep the Complete Series case. It's like a coffee table book. VERY well made.

Okay, I will take that under advisement. :)

Now, to find the best price... is it worth it to save $50 to buy it used??

Get it new. Who knows what the previous owners did to the nice plush binding and faux velour pages. :(

Apparently ebay has the best prices, but why do I feel leery of that? I like ebay, I haven't had any horrible experiences...yet I am hesitant.

Depends. If a girl used them, it is probably okay. If a guy "used" them, you might want to pass.

Check out deepdiscount.com (FKA deepdiscountdvd.com) too as they often have the best prices on DVDs and DVD sets.

Probably a girl. I don't know too many guys that are dying to have Sex and the City in their collections, unless they're trying to bag women.... or maybe not. Former would worry me, latter less so. :p

I've already checked out Deep Discount DVD and they are $40 more than Amazon!
