Hi all,
Long time lurker, can't say that I've ever posted before but I thought I'd share this little gem with you. Been with D for long, long time and also for that same period of time getting my Internet access from cable provider (now Comcast).
Well, I've been getting weekly fliers from Comcast, the latest one had me calling for details. Digital cable + HBO + Starz + DVR for $39.99/month for a year!, seems to good to be true?, well it was. Turns out that was only channels 2-99 AND required I surrender my D*TV receiver to Comcast!. Say what?. I don't think so, that's my property, keep your mitts off. Sorry, no sale Comcast. Just for grins, I called D*TV and shared this tale with retention. Their response was "thank you sir for being such a long time loyal customer" and here's $10/month off you basic package for 12 months and $10/month off your movie package for 6 months.
Ka-ching!, a saving of $180. I mentioned to the CSR that I was considering an upgrade to HD and she made an attractive offer that would probably be less than my current $81.98/month. Course there's that $299 up front and the two year service agreement. Dunno, I'm gonna shop HDTV's this weekend but not sure if I can part with my peanut just yet. :)
