A good episode, I thought.
"This is just like Sex And The City. I'm Samantha, you're Charlotte, and you're the lady at home watching."
"Are you a model?"
"Which one of you taught him anagrams?"
"It's heavy."
"I know. It's made of gold."
"Kill da wabbit! Kill da wabbit!"
I give what the kids call "props" to Judah Friedlander for wearing that Fangoria sweater.
Then there's Lester Holt talking to Tracy and the whole cabal after him. ("I wish someone else would have seen that.")
I wonder what Phoebe's whole angle is. It's wonderful to see Emily Mortimer. I'm a big fan of hers. She was utterly brilliant in Lovely And Amazing.

good episode - enjoyed the homage to ctown, although it appeared the cleveland scenes with lemon were not filmed here. :)

I think the "stock" footage was the best part.

Okay, so was the whole episode product placement from the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce or was it some inside joke I missed out on in my I-have-a-cold medicine haze?

Just the absurdity of Cleveland being a vacation destination or a place that a New Yorker would want to live.

Except for the first scene of them exiting a hotel, all those scenes (including Tracy getting off the bus somewhere) were shot in and around the Esplanade (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=new+york&layer=&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=16&ll=40.70989,-74.014292&spn=0.007384,0.014548&iwloc=addr) that's west of the World Financial Center in downtown Manhattan.
(I used to work in the WFC and I've got a friend who lives in the building that was behind Liz when she was buying a hotdog, so I recognized the shots).
The first scene exiting a hotel looked familiar but I can't quite place it. Probably somewhere in midtown.
This episode though shouldn't have been called "Cleveland". "Cleavageland" is more like it! Tina Fey was having really good boob days when they were filming that.:up:

I enjoyed this episode. For some reason, it felt slightly inspired by Mel Brooks?

I used to really like Alec Baldwin, but this recent message he left for his daughter has me thinking he is just a good comedic actor, but otherwise a turd.

Alec Baldwin's voicemail just makes his character funnier. I also never really liked him.

The real turd is his ex, Kim Basinger. What an ass. So whoopee, she embarrasses Alec. I couldn't care less about what the two of them do to each other. But what about how their daughter must feel. That's the shame of it.
There are very few parents (me included) that haven't yelled at their kids like that (except for maybe calling them pigs). It doesn't mean you're a bad parent or a turd. Raising kids can be very frustrating at times, just as we were frustrating for our parents.

I'm starting to turn to the dark side...I enjoyed this ep quite a bit...the spit scene was awesome...Baldwin turning and running like Carl Lewis when he heard about the Black Crusaders was great...
I still hate that Tracy guy...too detached from reality to be believable...but the show is growing on me...

I've got 4 kids, and I have never yelled at my kids like that. Not only did he call her a pig, GREAT for an 11 yr. (or was it 12 Alec?) girl to hear from her Dad, but he seemed to threaten her physically. I got the feeling that his comment about flying to LA for the day to make sure she COMPLETELY understands how upset he is was a not so veiled physical threat. I don't think he'd actually do anything, but imagine the angst that causes a 12 (or was it 11, Alec) yr. old girl that probably has already had her mind filled with crap from her mother about her father.
I'm not saying you're totally wrong, but from my perspective this is not something that happens in a normal parenting situation.

I just called my 10 year old cousin a fatass. He let my little sister cross the street and wander into the neighbor's yard. I was putting the Power Wheels car in the garage.
When I asked him why he didnt go after her and bring her back he said she ran too fast, but he was just sitting there in a chair. I told him to get his fat ass out of the chair and go after her. I was about to tell him I was going to kick the crap out of him.
He acted sad (just stood there staring at the grass), but I didnt give a damn because he'll remember now. Of course, my context is slightly different from Mr Baldwin's. Really though, its none of my business what he says to his family.
NOTE: I guess I didnt call him a fatass, but I did tell him what to do with it.
Great episode of 30 Rock!

Does anyone know of a link to the "Cleveland" segment from this episode? I scoured YouTube and came up empty. One of my good friends went to college in Cleveland and I'm sure he'd get a kick out of that scene. Thanks.

Cleveland was so overdone, sort of like Staples in "The Office," making me wonder if the tourist board there paid to be in the show... LOL.
