Mine has a 160GB drive and shows ~150 hours, so you should get about 1 hour per GByte.

Dang. Hopefully someone here can get me the exact number. (I saw your sig earlier).
I guess I will just have to do the upgrade first and then list it on Ebay. Just waiting for the drive from NewEgg.com.

Thanks.

supasta: the exact amount displayed on the system info screen will vary depending on the brand of hard drive you chose. For example, I used to have a Maxtor 160gb drive and got 144 hours, but a Western Digital 160gb gave me 140 hours due to a slight difference in the formatted size of the hard drive.

according to system info screen, 217

This is with a Maxtor 250GB drive. This is also just the box's estimate. The actual size of a recording varies by the bit rate, and directv varies that from channel to channel, show to show. I've had hour long shows that used 800MB, and I've had hour long shows that took up 1200MB.

What brand of HD is this?

If anyone else can help here, I would appreciate it! Thanks!

To update: I finally got around to doing the upgrade this evening, all went very smoothly. However, I can't skip Guided Setup to get to the system screen to see the exact number. It wants to find the satellite first...which I don't have :)

I would just put in the listing that it has a new 250 gig drive that should provide at least 200 hours of programming.

I have found that the recording time is 1 hour per gig minus about 10-15 percent.

My 500 gig system says "Variable 443 hours. I forget the brand of HD I put in it though.

I went ahead and did that. Thanks for the help.

If anyone would like to see the eBay page, let me know and I will PM you the link.
