looking to upgrade and add

I'm looking to do some upgrading...
I have one series 2 direct Tv tivo and need to get at least one more. And I want to get MRV setup...
I see all the info on how to upgrade and that is great. But not to long ago I saw a post about some models that couldn't be upgraded/modified.
So, are there any series 2 dtivo's I should avoid...
and will the normal upgrade instructions I see posted all over the me MRV or is that a separate item?

If you want to hack a DirecTivo, then get one of the models listed at the top of this page Tivo Zipper (http://www.mastersav.com/tivo_zipper.html)

The support thread for the Tivo Zipper is Zipper support (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=265929) - all 10,260 messages. But don't let that scare you away. There are a lot of users (me included) that didn't have any problem installing the Zipper.

Do i need zipper to get MRV?

The USB port isn't active from the factory, so to use any of the networking features such as MRV, you'll need to Zipper or use similar hacks
