I've had several recordings now come up as '0:00' (Bill Cosby-Himself and NGHD #11). I've also noticed a live-recording issue with the same result....in addition to some major live-buffer irregularities (buffer being empty even though channel had been on for over 30 minutes).
Anyone have this issue now as well? It wasn't a problem until the most recent update.

I haven't seen this problem, but I'd do a restart. This is known to fix weird problems.

I hate the way 'do a reset' is the ultimate fix-it.....having to purge all your recordings in the process......

Do not do a reset, just do a restart. It will take about 5 minutes for the machine to reboot.

I've done that twice now, once with the original issue and again two days ago. I doesn't seemed to have helped....

I've started having the same problem on a HR10 I've had for over a year. Recorded shows have .00 minutes recorded.
I've called DTv and they have had me reboot. This hasn'nt fixed the problem. They said the next step is a reformat.
Any suggestions?

I have had similar 00 recordings on the NGHD sneek peaks but on no other recordings. I just assume that it is a problem with the "test" channel. Sometimes they come, and sometimes they don't.

Sounds to me like you've got an HR20 (I've had similar problems). If so, you're on the wrong forum....try here: http://www.dbstalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=112

I have one HR-20 and one HR-10. Both have been disappointments from the standpoint of software and support. While the HR-20 is getting regular updates, the HR-10 didn't get anything for at least 19 months! I'm glad to see how the unit is faster with the current firmware but these new bugs are odd to say the least. I should also add that the units menus are slower that before (in addition to the recording and buffer issues)....
On a side note, my disc is not full, in fact there's only a few programs left on the drive.....a few of which I don't want to lose via total reformat.

I have had this happen to the Sci-Fi channel in general. The recordings have zero length, and when I look at the HR10, if it is still on the Sci-Fi channel, there is no picture--blank screen. If I press channel up, then down, the picture comes back and the machine is fine for quite a while. Then it happens again. Is this the same problem you are experiencing?

I haven't noticed that happen to a live channel, only on recordings.

Same problem here. This has happened to me several times in the last few weeks. Seems like it only happens with my OTA recordings. When I try to tune to the channel in question I get a black screen and then the HR10 just locks up. I then have to reboot and all seems fine for a few days then it happens again.
I've missed a few Letterman's (no big deal) but tonight it screwed up Lost!

Up until now, it only happened on some of the NGC specials (on Channel 95, I think) and often happened to HD Net stuff. Tonight it screwed up Lost, recording off of channel 87 (the ABC Los Angeles feed). Thankfully, I have an older TiVo that recorded it. First time a TiVo screw up has affected me in like 6 years. Can't complain too much, but this should be fixed.

Mods we have multiple threads with people reporting empty or partial recordings this week. Should they be consolidated?

I would say there are two different issues at play here. One is clearly software based (as it is with the empty recordings). The others, as listed below, appear to be antenna based (or also software depending on exact issue.)
