and it has 6.3a on it! Damn! My original HR10-250 pooped out on me and they sent me a new (refurb) HR10. Now I am having VERY frequent audio drop outs on OTA channels. I remember reading this was a problem on this software version. I don't have phone lines in my house so I would have to take it to my neighbors or to work to make the calls. Has this been corrected with any of the new versions of the software?

I had the dropouts with 6.3 and 6.3a, but only on FOX OTA,
haven't heard any since 6.3c.

6.3b corrected the audio dropouts. I haven't noticed any with 6.3c either, though some people claim there is a different type of audio issue with it.

I wonder if ya'll could help me. I took my receiver to work and told it to make the phone call. When I go under system information it says
Service Connection:
Last Attempt: today's date
Last Status: Successful
Next Attempt: Next Week
Service Data Download:
Last Successful: None Available
Last Attempt:Early this morning
Last Status: Finished
My software is still 6.3a. Is it suppose to download the data (new version of software) over the phone line? I can't connect to SAT obviously while I'm up here but I have to make my calls up here. Is there a way to force the download of the new software?

It takes about a week for the slices to DL over sat. After 7 days or so, the forced phone call should trigger the pending restart message and it will jump from 6.3a to 6.3c.
I too got a refurb a couple weeks ago and it came with 6.3a which was so bad the IRD would just stop working and only the fan would run. It was a struggle, but eventually got the upgrade forced and now it works great.

Last Status: FinishedIt'll show up after the first successful service download. And yes, it will eventually attempt it over the phone line. I intentionally interrupted mine when it tried -- I don't want my phone tied up for hours.
