This time for Survivor....well, that has made me finally order the HR20....if the HR10-250 isn't going to work properly, then why keep it? I have the installer coming on Thur. to install the 5 LNB dish, put in the new HR20, plus I get to keep the HR10-250. $115 for the new stuff, $99 instant credit, $10 customer credit for 6 months, plus I sell the HR10-250 on Ebay for at least $300. I will DEFINITELY miss the Tivo interface, but like I said...if it's not reliable, then what's the point?

Ya, good luck with that.

At least you won't be complaining here.

Not to start a flame war, but FWIW, I haven't had any issues with mine, they work just as well as my HR10-250.

Ive only ad 1 problem with one of my 2 HR20s and that was a problem with the recording of the wrestlemania PPV I ordered. Called and complained about it. I guess they said they had a problem with those boxes and ordering the PPV on the web or by phone and recording it. Other then that I think the box is just fine.

Typical of you "Tivo guys" to pick and chose and twist other's words....enjoy those flawed boxes that continually drop audio, hiccup, randomly miss recordings, reboot....oh, and only received MPEG2. :)

Oh irony of ironies.....

Some folks, like myself, still have flawless performance with the HR10 (actually 2 at our house) while others are experiencing pains like the OP has related. I have not seen anyone take a stab at the reason for the differences.

BUT, I have read reports of flawless and flawed perfomance with HR20 units also. Seems the same general discrepancy exists there.

This all makes me wonder if something to do with OTA local digital channels might somehow cause different behaviors in different localities, assuming viewers are tuning in the suspected offending channel.

This speculation is just a shot in the dark. Perhaps we should try and capture data points for those with failures and those without.

Er....I didn't see a single post 'pick and choose and twist your words.' You stated that the HR10 wasn't reliable, so you are switching to the HR20. If you didn't want people to honestly comment on what you had written, why did you bother posting at all?

"Irony of ironies" means that the HR20 also has its problems (along with no DB's); oftentimes more of them (mine has unwatchable recordings almost every single week, and is anything but reliable. Been this way consistantly for well over 6 months). Depends on who you talk to.

This would be referred to as 'out of the frying pan....'

Good point. So here are my season pass problems with the NY locals in MPEG2. In the past two weeks the "Someone in your household" has happened to these programs: Lost, In Case of Emergency, The New Adventures of Old Christine. Anyone else in my area with season passes to these shows have the same problem?
I should note that I noticed the problem days in advance and corrected it. Maybe it would have corrected itself if I did nothing, but why take the chance?

I'm also in NJ (NYC locals) and haven't had the "SOIY(MF)H" issue in a few months. I have LOST on a season pass and haven't had any issues with that SP in particular. I also have "Without a Trace", "CSI:Miami", "The Office", "Ghost Whisperer", "CSI:NY" in addition to my wife Tivo'ing every L&O in carnation on aweekly basis...and again, no issues with those since everyone else was having the "SOIY(MF)H" issues as well.

Call the police and report the intruder that keeps messing with your Tivo :)

My HR20 works great.

It's not a TiVo but so what.

I just had my HR20 installed today....it's way better than my HR 10-250....not sure why everyone is making a big deal about the dual buffers, all you need to do it hit one button to record each show and you have a dual buffer.......anyway, the HR20 is much easier to navigate and I won't miss my unreliable HR 10-250.
