I have a HR10. I've had one for three years. The first one died after a few months and they sent me a new one. This one has been working great for the last 2 1/2 years. Within the last week or so I'll get a "searching for satellite signal" message on the screen. There are no obstructions to my dish, it happens on bright sunny days (no rain fade or anything), and it ONLY happens on channels over 100. All my locals and even HBO HD on channel 70 or Channel 95 ( I watch selected Yankee games in HD) stay on all the time. A couple times my HR10 just shut off and re booted on its own. I've had no similar messages on any of my other 4 DVRs in the house. Recordings have been cut off in the middle because of the problem. I have to add that all the signals show up strong 85 or higher. And it isn't just one tuner that it happens on. If I am watching tuner 1 (a lower local channel with no interruption) then it'll says tuner 2 is searching for a signal and vice versa. If I just leave it on the tuner that is blacking out, the signal comes and goes without a pattern.
I recently added the D* protection plan for the moment when it sounds like it will completely crap out. Anyone else have this problem? And does it simply sound like the box is just dying a slow death?
