Crashed Hard Drive

My 10-250s hard drive crashed last week. At least that is what they told me, it won't initialize, it just stays on the "Almost There" screen. They did send me a new receiver because of it. Now a couple of questions:

1. Has anyone had this problem and if so, is it really a bad hard drive, or something else? The script they were reading off of, wasn't even right for my receiver.

2. If it is the hard drive, is there a way to recover the shows that were on the drive, or are they lost forever?

3. How can I tell if my new receiver is leased or not? They just said, we will send a new one, don't send the old one back.

1. Yep, most likely a dead hard drive.
2. The drive is dead, so the shows died with it. Sorry.
3. Most likely it's leased. Contact DirecTV directly if that concerns you.

Get the HR10-250 software and buy a new drive. It's not that difficult to do.
