View Full Version : Peanut Remote Repeating with HR10

For every button I press on my peanut remote, the action is repeated no less than two times. For example, if I press channel up, it skips two or more channels. This happens no matter which button I press, be it a number or a direction. I have tried resetting the receiver and I have tried resetting the remote (unplug batteries and hold the number 1 for 10 seconds). Does anyone have any other suggestions? Any help is appreciated.

Have you restarted or rebooted the unit? There also may be IR interference causing the TiVo get confused (it doesn't "see" the end of the IR signal).

Both of my HR10's became super-sensitive to remote commands after the 6.3 upgrade.

Before the upgrade, we were in the habit of pressing buttons slowly and deliberately to make sure they worked. Now that same approach results in double or triple actions.

We have retrained ourselves to use the HD TiVo remote buttons lightly and quickly now, but we still get some double actions.

I assumed this was an undesirable and unexpected byproduct of the speed-up fixes that came with software release 6.3.

One of our units became sensitive after the upgrade. Its a pain, especially when entering channel numbers. You'll get used to it after a while.

I hope we don't have to get used to it. It is annoying and I hope they fix it with an upgrade or patch.

I'm still on 3.1f, and I have the repeating problems too. I'll echo the sentiments that it's really annoying. There are no issues with my 6.3c receiver, and never has had any issues (even when on 3.1f). Don't have anything that would cause interference. It is behind a piece of beveled glass... would that cause an issue? Maybe I'll try it with the door open for a while.

Thanks for the input everyone. I have tried everything short of clearing and deleting all, which the csr supervisor "assured" me would fix the problem. I am gonna try and get through all my saved programs before I do that and see what happens.

I have a wireless router in my house that I have been using for the last 3 years with no problem. Do you think an 802.11g router would all of a sudden cause some sort of IR intereference?

Not likely. As some of the others have experienced, my HR10-250 is exhibiting the same behavior since the 6.3 upgrade.

Peanuts have always repeated on me as well. :) /steve
I'm getting just as much agida controlling my HD-TiVo with my MX-500. :)

All 4 are in different rooms and different parts of the house.

With our units it's most noticeably if:

-We hit "info" on the remote....you hear two "blips" and the info content goes up on the screen....and goes RIGHT away (as if we hit the button twice)

-We hit "guide" on the remote....you hear two "blips" and the guide shoots up on the screen....and goes RIGHT away (again, as if we hit the button twice).

I have no issue with channel changing or play/left/right etc....

But I STILL have the occasional issue on ALL FOUR units where the 30 second skip doesn't respond properly OR multiple pushes of the FFW'D button only allows for the unit to stay on the "first" FFW'D speed.

I am not using the peanut remote with my setup but I am having similar problems with my URC MX-850. Nothing I can't live with but still an annoying situation. BTW, this all started with the 6.3 updates.

When I got home yesterday all seemed to be normal again. Glad I didn't clear and delete everything like the csr instructed me to do.

This suggests to me that some external interference might have been a factor.

What has changed from your last attempt? Less sunlight, turned off fluorescent light, turned off any appliances or RF devices? Is your neighbor's home close enough for you to pick up RF interference from there?

We use some RCA IR extenders in several rooms in our house. They are very sensitive to near-direct sunlight, to fluorescent lights and being too close to electronic devices like a TV set.

Some people have reported interference from plasma TVs that was cured by more distance between devices.

Let us know of your progress.
