I had a message on my toshiba sdh-400 this morning that I wish I had not deleted. I could have sworn it said that they added Season Pass to the system now. It said to go to program menu and under More Options for Get Season Pass but when I go to More Options there is nothing on the screen, no options listed at all. Anyone know if there is Season pass now for basic and how to do it?

It likely said IF you sign up for TiVo Plus, you would get Season Passes, Wish List, etc....
I used to get those messages, but I guess they finally gave up the ghost.

Where is this "More Options" menu ? I'm not seeing it.

There is what TiVo calls a "Manual Season Pass" with TiVo Basic:
TiVo Central > Find Programs > Manually Record
Choose 'Repeating', then choose the frequency. 'Every Day' or 'M-F', or 'Every Sun', etc. Then set the channel and start/stop times.
If what you are scheduling is within the 3-day guide, it will display in the 'To Do List' under it's proper name and listing as a 'Repeating Recording'. The only thing it doesn’t do is differentiate between repeats and first-runs as the full 'Season Pass' does.

In your Now Playing list, select a program already recorded or currently recording. There is now a "More Options" selection but once you go to it the only selection it has is "Go Back" at the bottom. If you press right, left, or enter you can only go back. It seems to me that they upgraded the software on all tivos with the More Options selection but only Tivo Plus subscribers can now select Season Pass from already recorded programming and Basic users just get a blank screen.

I don't have that. I do have 'Change Recording Options', but all that is contained there is 'Keep Until', and the 'Stop Recording' padding.
Are you running the latest v8.1 software ? As I think there used to be an expanded recording menu there, but it was moved to the 'To Do' list in subsequent software. If I choose something out of the 'To Do' list, you can set up a "Manual Season Pass" by choosing 'Repeat This Recording'.

My software version is 8.3-01-2-264
TiVo Account Status 19:TiVo Basic (FT Not Possible)
If I select a show in my Now Playing List the options are as follows:
Play
Keep until...
Delete Now
More options
Don't do anything
More options says Go back at the botton when I select it.

AH !
You should have mentioned the recent software upgrade. Mine just upgraded overnight, and now I've got the same thing. The 'More Options' goes nowhere.
Back to your original post, however, you can still initiate a "Manual Season Pass" via the 'To Do' list.

Do you still have the system message then about the upgrade? Why do we have a More Options screen now with absolutely no options? I figured Tivo Basic was different enough from Tivo Plus that they would not need to show us screens that don't do anything once you go them.

Ah, yes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We just upgraded your TiVoŽ service with the Spring 2007 Update !
This update includes more options for programs in your Now Playing list and integrates incremental support for TiVoCast content.
* More Options
When viewing the Program screen for any recording, you'll now notice a 'More Options' menu item. From here, you'll be able to schedule additional recordings, including the option to "Get a Season Pass".
* TivoCast Support
You'll now see logos for our TiVoCast partners, making it easy for you to identify the source of your broadband video at a glance.
Enjoy !
Why do we have a More Options screen now with absolutely no options?
Because we do not subscribe.
I figured Tivo Basic was different enough from Tivo Plus that they would not need to show us screens that don't do anything once you go them.
Lots of stuff is like that. If you go to 'Message & Settings' > 'Settings' > 'Phone & Network', is states:
Network connection details:
No connection.
Well, DUH. You can't network without a subscription.
You'll get used to it. They're not about to expend any energy customizing the software for non-subscribers, even though the original concept was that it was built into the initial price.
Although the "Enjoy !" does tend to be particularly grating.
