View Full Version : Galleon GoBack Subfolder Loop?

Hey all,

This is an offshoot of an earlier problem I was having, and actually may heave precipitated the whole shebang. I don't know. It doesn't matter.

On the Now Playing List, the folders shared via Galleon and GoBack aren't working. Let me explain:

There are Two main folders: Movies & Shows

Each has subfolders of individual movies and/or series

Once I browse into the shows subdirectory, there are folders for each of the series. Here's where it gets squirrelly.

No matter what I do from this point, I keep getting presented with the same folders of individual series. If I select one, or go Right into one, it still shows the list of series.

From that point on, even if I go back (and if I go back as many times as I tried to enter a series folder, I will end up back at the original choices of Movies & Shows) and try to, say, navigate into Movies, I'm presented with the screen of series folders.

Stuck. Repeat. Ditto. Ad infinitum.

I'm running the most recent update of TiVo software, Galleon 2.3, and this problem manifested sometime in the last few days (amidst a series of updates: from Windows, Zone Alarm, and the TiVo box). Before this, everything worked perfectly for months.

Over the last 24 hours, I've uninstalled and cleaned the registry of any remnants of Galleon, TiVo Desktop, and Zone Alarm, before reinstalling them fresh.

Here's a twist: In an attempt to find a workaround, I installed Tivo.Net, just to see if it would serve my needs. The same exact problem, the subfolder loop, manifested in Tivo.Net, which makes me think this is either an issue with the TiVo or the network, and not any particular software. But since everything was working flawlessly up until a couple of days ago, and no network settings had been changed before it crapped out, I'm leaning toward the TiVo service update as the culprit.

Unfortunately, System Restore is not an option here.

Any ideas?

The same problem has been reported with pyTivo. It seems to be a bug in the tivo software. When I get the 8.3 update I am going to check it out, but if it is really requesting the incorrect subfolders there will not me much that can be done.

I can't tell you how happy that makes me. Not that pyTivo has the same issue (which I also installed last night, along with Tivo.net; but the config file didn't want to play nice with my directory's name - or at least I think that's what was the holdup), but that it's not just something I my end. I've become pretty convinced it's an issue with the TiVo update.

Posted as much in the 8.3 thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=347365&page=3), but so far no one has replied as to whether they've experienced anything similar.

Has anyone figured out what's going on? As a workaround, I can move files into the root folder, and from there can seemingly transfer okay. It's definitely a subfolder bug, which seems to have been precipitated by the 8.3 update.
