Has anyone hooked up a Slingbox AV to their Hr10? Is there any degradation in picture quality? How does it work on the computer? I have a Blackberry and can't access the signal on it (yet?), but I'm dying to get one now that I saw it work on my friends Motorola Q. Any experiences out there??

I don't have a Slingbox, this is just speculation. I believe you'll only be able to watch in 480i. So I guess that would be big degradation.

A Slingbox Pro will work with high-def. through the HR10's component output if you also buy the Slingbox high def. dongle (about $40, I think).

I have the "Slingbox" A/V unit on my HR10-250. It will only output in 480i on that unit, but the degradation in picture quality really comes from the download over the internet. If you have it connected at home, it streams at a much higher bit rate (I've seen it at about 2200 kbs). The best I have seen it when I am out of my house is about 750 kbs.

I travel quite a bit for my work, and I watch it on my laptop. That screen isn't the best either, but it's been nice to catch up on shows, particularly when I have been overseas.

Has anyone here tried the Slingbox HD? How is the quality of HD content over the Internet?

I guess the Slingbox (any model) would be better suited to the HR20 since, with dual outputs live, you could output to the HDMI for the TV and component for the Slingbox and not lose anything.

Is that correct?

I have a Slingbox Pro and the HD connector. I have set it up with both the HR10-250 and the HR20.

The quality over my local network is very good. It is not HD resolution but it looks quite good on my laptop and 17 inch computer screen. The quality over the internet is decent, certainly watchable but not as good as over my local network.

If you have the HD dongle, using the HR10-250 is no big deal as it will accept the HD output (but not display in HD resolution.) The downside is you have to connect the HR10 into the slingbox, and then out from the sling using component to your TV. You can't use HDMI/DVI. It is easier with the HR20 because you can use the HD dongle to go out to the slingbox from the HR20 (component using the dongle) and then out to the TV directly from the HR20 since it outputs simultaneously from more than one output. If you don't have the PRO AND the Dongle, I think you have to set to output to 480i from your satellite box because the slingbox won't put out a signal that comes in from HD without the HD dongle.

Hope this helps.

Thanks....that confirms my thoughts. Now all I need is for the to support Blackberries and I'll go out and buy one immediately.
