How do I plug in an Over the air HD Antenna to receive HD and integrate it into my DirecTV?
I currently have an 8 port powered Satellite Switch and I think there's an 'antenna' plug
how do you get it to work?
Do I just plug it in to the antenna port?
How do I make the directv box understand to look to the Over the antenna broadcast instead of the satellite (non-hd) broadcast?

If you do have an antenna port on your switch you wold need to plug in the appropriate antenna for your location into it. That would diplex the signal onto all 8 of your satellite outputs. At your receiver you would need to use a diplexer to split the signals apart again. You would run the satellite output to the satellite input of your receiver. You would run the OTA portion of the diplexer output to an ATSC tuner either in your TV, in your HD satellite receiver or a separate ATSC tuner. If you happen to have an older DirecTV HD receiver like the Hughes E86, it has a built in diplexer. All you have to do is connect the satellite line and it splits the signal internally.
Once everything is connected to your satellite receiver, you would go into the setup menu and configure the system for both satellite and OTA. The exact steps are different for each receiver. User guides are available at the DirecTV web site.
I put "appropriate antenna for your location" in bold because the antenna selection is very personal. What works for me may not work for you. It depends on distance from the towers, terrain, nearby structures, station broadcast power and frequency, etc. Antennaweb dot org is a great place to start your search as well as the parent forum AVS. The HDTV Hardware section has a sticky on OTA reception. The Local HDTV section is broken down by DMA and you can find people in your area/city/neighborhood that have already gone through the trial and error process of picking an antenna.
If this is meant for the HR10-250 (aka HD DirecTivo) then it should have been posted in the section of the forum below this one.
How do I make the directv box understand to look to the Over the antenna broadcast instead of the satellite (non-hd) broadcast? If this is concerning channel changes, it is seamless on all DirecTV receivers. The same way you don't have to tell it to switch satellite reception when it channels are spread out over 5 or 6 satellite locations. Just change the channel like you normally do.

Are we sure that the OP has an HR10? :)
His other threads/posts have to do with the R10.
Gee, I really wish new threads would include basic information like receiver model etc. :D

The R10 does not have OTA capabilities and is not an HD DVR.
You will need an HR10-250 or the HR20-700!
