I have done no hacks or mods. My tivo was working fine today, when all the sudden, it rebooted itself. :( I had paused a live program, then left for a while; it had been a couple hours by the time I noticed the "WELCOME" message instead of the time on the tivo LCD. I turned on the tv, it said "Almost there. Just a few minutes more..." So I waited a while, it never finished. After about 2 more hours, I tried the standby button, didn't respond, so I yanked the power cord. I let it sit for 30 minutes, plugged it back in, an hour later it still has the "Almost there" message!! :( Please, someone help!! I need my tivo!! :(

Is your RS-TX20 connected to your network? Mine did that to me once when I was booting it without the network attached. After I plugged the adapter back in, it completed the boot. Don't know why.
If yous is attached, try unplugging the USB adapter, wait a few seconds, then reconnect it.
This was with 8.1a software on the Toshiba.

Thanks for the suggestion! Okay, I tried plugging the wireless adapter in (I plug it in once a week for updates) and rebooting; still no luck though. :( Any other ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!

Sounds to me that the software is corrupt. There are two reasons why the software is corrupt:
1. The TiVo encountered an error, faulted, and reboot. This occurred while the file handles on a system file were still open, and this file is now junk.
2. The TiVo's hard disk drive is failing. The system files are becoming corrupted, and inaccessible.
If you have problem number one, you will need a virgin drive image from a working TX20 and you'll have to re-image the drive. If you have problem number two, you'll have to get a new drive, and then get a virgin drive image from a working TX20.
