Here are some links to threads in this forum:

BTW, I think you'll need Direct Show Dump first to get an mpg file. AutoGK lets you use the free XviD codecs or you can buy the DivX codecs. I really like the quality vs. compression with AutoGK - best of the tools I have tried. I own an Archos AV500 and I know DiVX MPEG4+MP3 files play on both the Archos and Zen Vision players. I cannot comment on XviD on Vision but it plays on Archos. BTW, I usually use CBR MP3 to avoid audo sync issues.

Our Vision M came with two or three different software packages that allow download to the unit. I think I used the sync one and it just worked fine. The step by step instructions to use it were in the book that came with the M, it was actually very simple. I decided to give the yahoo music player the heave-ho, it is an alternate method that comes with the M. It also comes with WMP11 which also should know how to sync with it, but I haven't tried it yet.

The reason it is confusing is because they give you multiple ways to get the job done and aren't clear about pluses and minuses of each method up front. If you installed all the software packages, try each one, and stay with the one that works best for you.

Use DirectShow Dump to convert the files from Tivo format to regular MPEG2.

Then, use Creative Video Converter that came with your Zen to convert the file to a format acceptable to the Zen. I have the Vision W, and this process works for me.
