I guess the title says it all. I ran my HR10-250s/DTV against Series 3 Tivos/Time Warner Cable (TWC) for several weeks. The S3/TWC beats DTV hands down.
TWC's high-def. PQ is much better than DTV's; there is more HD content; and, bottom line price, for now, is cheaper. It was kind of a hard decision since I've been a DTV customer almost since its inception. Cable at the time was grossly inferior.
The S3, having newer technology/software, is faster and has some features that the HR10-250s either don't have or require hacking, i.e. simultaneous output of all video sources (HDMI, component and composite for my application) & native networking, so you don't have to use a telephone line.
I'm using 2 cable cards per unit and have had zero installation/usage problems. TWC took over from Adelphia, which surprisingly had upgraded their infrastruture before the takeover; and, TWC is/will be doing more upgrades.
