I posted a few days regarding my inability to make larger SATA drives work in series one TiVos. Now I am running into a similar problem with larger PATA drives. I can make a 250GB single drive work with no problems, but as soon as I jump up to 320GB all I get is the cycling powering on then green error screen. I've tried using both a 127 and 160 swap file and running copykern after the restore with no luck. Would love to hear from anybody who has made this work. I'm using the PTV free LBA48 CD.

Does the -r 4 option work with the Series 1?

I didn't try that because I've never needed it on any drive smaller than 400.

I think the magic number is 256GiB + original image size. So it depends on how big the original TiVo image is. 80G OK 40G probably not.

Bingo! Forgot all about the rule and simply had it in my head I only need -r 4 for 400GB and above period. Just ran new restore with r switch and it booted up fine. Thanks a million!
