ok be sure you see the from a TiVo TO .mov format. Not the other way around which is not my goal.

I bought some sansa e250r MP3 and Video players. Long story short their converter takes other formats and makes them .mov files but so far it works like Cr@p. I am looking to see if any one has taken files from the TiVo and converted them to the .mov format and can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance

Have you tried QuickTime? It's the original .mov converter

that requires buying the PRO version for 30$ if I am not mistaken. Looking for free option for now (I know - codec liscense issues) till I see about how to get the sansa converter working correctly.

I have come across SUPER and trying that out currently

.mov is just a quicktime container, in the same way that avi is a directshow container. These can contain various audio and video codecs. From this page: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/4/353117, it looks like your sansa requires mjpeg video with mp3 audio, in a mov container. ffmpeg and/or mencoder may be able to handle encoding to these specific parameters. It also looks like there are several flavors of mjpeg (lossless, apple, 'b'?) so that might also complicate things.

ffmpeg formats docs:
http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/ffmpeg-doc.html#SEC22

mencoder mention of sansa e260(looks like someone was getting close, but didn't have it right yet):
http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mencoder-users/2006-October/004299.html

I've heard bad things about SUPER screwing up other codecs and being difficult to remove once installed; I wouldn't recommend using it.

Thanks Gonzo  SUPER does indeed not work for what i want.

as for the thread on Sansa media converter - helpful thread but there is a new media converter 2 they put out that negates what the Poster discovered in the post you linked but it lets you find the places to change in media converter 2.
Also they have done firmware upgrades to use the more upto date h.264 and AAC audio like an iPod - just still in the clunky MOV wrapper.

Did you find a solution for this? I just bought a e260 (actually it's "shipping" so I can't play around w/ it yet) and was wondering if there was a way to put some of the Tivo shows on to it.
