RCA DVR40 + 160 GB HDD

Can two HDDs be upgrades to one larger HDD (such as 250 GB) and save the programs?

Just to let you know, I did search and read through a lot of others posts and came up with 4 answers so I'm not sure which is most accurate:

2 HDD --> 1 slightly larger HDD
YES, settings and shows saved

2 HDD --> 1 HDD
YES, all saved

2 HDD --> 1 HDD
YES, all saved, but no matter what the size of new HDD, only the orginal amount of space would be available (My thoughts on a workaround is to let place do it (too much for me to understand), save important stuff to DVD, and then go back my self and use Zipper or whatever they use to start over with a brand new fresh image on my own since that looks a little less painful.)

2 HDD --> 2 HDD
YES, this is the only way to do it.

These different answers above, I have gotten directly from various support at places that sell pre-imaged upgrade HDDs which allow you to send your unit to them to complete the upgrade.

Needless to say, I'm a wee bit confused with these answers.

Now I have one more response from one of the upgraders:

Can go from 2 HDD to 2 new HDDs as long as both drives are at least 160 GB.

I'm stumped.

Check out mfslive.org.

You will need the beta version to save recordings.
