View Full Version : Corrupt second HDVR2 drive?

Howdy,
I think I hosed my second disk while trying a disk upgrade on my HDVR2.

I had upgraded a while back, first adding a 160GB disk and then replacing the original disk with a second 160GB disk. Unfortunately, I used off the shelf WD computer disks. After enduring bad stuttering, I bought two DB35 replacements (250GB each).

Having been through this a couple of times before, I had no trouble copying the first (master) disk using dd. But the second disk appeared to have read errors. I tried lots of different approaches to get the second disk copied. Ultimately, I'm afraid I hit return when a WD utility wanted to "fix" my original source slave disk. Perhaps fixed as in neutered.

So now I have two pairs of disks that, when put in my HDVR2, stay stuck on the "Welcome. Powering up..." screen for a couple of days.

I'd like to get some suggestions on how to proceed before spending another of couple of days stumbling around. It would be nice to save the recordings, but if the consensus is to wipe one or both disks, so be it.

Help anyone? Thanks.

Bob
