Hi all:

I have an SAT-T60 with CacheCard currently running 3.5b. By (stupidly) applying a tivoapp patch designed for 3.5, I think I may have broken tivoapp. The unit is still pretty stable but reboots itself every few days or so. It also doesn't seem to be dialing out correctly over the network (even though I can still network in). Nothing major really (and luckily, I know), but if the incorrect patch is what caused it, is there any way I can easily download a new 3.5b tivoapp and copy it over to my unit? I still have telnet / FTP access through the CacheCard. Oh yeah, I did backup tivoapp before applying the patch, but by (even more stupidly) following the patch instructions twice (because when it didn't work the first time I thought I had done something wrong instead of the patch being the wrong one) I think I corrupted the backup too.

Can anyone offer suggestions on how to proceed or point me in the right direction?

Many thanks in advance!

surgery on a tivo without a backup? (uncontrolled (but entirely reasonable) laughter ensues).

Your best option is to buy an instant cake from pvt and re-image the drive.

Why don't you just take your current tivoapp and "un-patch" it? The best way to do it is to ftp your tivoapp to your PC, and then edit it with a hex editor such as XVI32. You should be able to find the info over at DDB as to the patch location and the original and patched hex values for whatever patch you were attempting.

Just for future reference, it is always best to apply the patches with a hex editor so you can see that you are changing the correct values.
