Larger SATA drive in series one possible?

I tried this post in help forum with no success so I will give it a go here:

I have successfully used surplus 250GB SATA drives in virtually any model series2 I have tried with the Rosewill IDE adapter, but I have had no luck making these work in any series one for maximum capacity. Anybody out there tried and had success? I have tried using the PTV LBA48 CD by itself, and also tried using the combination of mfslive and PTV (for copykern) per mfslive's recommendations.

After further questioning of mfslive's author it turns out he has never tried SATA drives in series 1 so cannot help.

Are you getting the drive working at all or are you just not seeing the additional capacity? Are you using it with an LBA48 kernel? The Tivo should see the drive as an ATA drive when using the Rosewill adapter so I'm assuming it's one of the other issues.
